OBJECTIVE

As a teacher and a coach, I focus on setting goals that show improvement for both myself
and my students. I constantly read on my subjects to find new and creative ways of
teaching. I create a comfortable environment for my students to confide in each other and in
me.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Based on both my volunteer and paid positions, I have strong capabilities for working with
children of all ages, and teaching them skills and lessons in order to attain a goal. I am in
college to become a certified Social Studies and Language Arts Middle School Teacher. I
am also a trained swim coach. This is my seventh year as a swim coach. I am able to create
practices as well as meet lineups. Along with coaching, I have spent over 100 hours
observing in elementary, middle, and high school classes that have been made up of
students with disabilities and students classified as gifted. I spend at least 20 hours a week
as a volunteer in my community. I am an assistant coach of both a middle school and high
school swim team, and I am the leader of Childrens Chapel and the Christmas Pageant for
Christ Church Episcopal.

6TH GRADE GIFTED SOCIAL STUDIES & LANGUAGE ARTS

I have observed once a week in a sixth grade gifted classroom since 2011. I have observed
in both a social studies and a language arts classroom. I have taken notes on my
observations, and I have also helped lead discussions, ask questions to the students, grade
students work, and run sections of the class.
SUGAR HILL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, SUGAR HILL, GA
K-2ND GRADES LEVEL 1 AUTISM

I helped a level 1 autism classroom once a week during my dual enrollment year, 20122013. I was given the experience of working with students who really needed one-on-one
hands-on help. It also gave me the opportunity to learn more about students disabilities and
how the disabilities effect the students school abilities. I went to Special Olympics Track and
Field with this class.
CREWS MIDDLE SCHOOL, LAWRENCEVILLE, GA
6TH-8TH GRADES LEVEL 2 AUTISM

I began helping in Crews Middle School about twice a month in 2013. I have worked with
many of the students, who are much more hands-on than the elementary school autism
class. I help direct the students or assist them as needed. This class has given me the
opportunity to see more of what is involved in being a special education teacher. I have also
gone with this class on community skills events.

9TH-12TH GRADES ALL SPECIAL EDUCATION CLASSES

I started the BEST Club my junior year at Duluth High School. BEST stands for Bringing
Exceptional Students Together. This club was designed to create an environment for special
needs students to interact with other high school students. We would go to the special
needs classrooms during lunch on Fridays. We rotated through all of the classrooms, and

we would have events where we would have all of the special needs classes meet outside
for a big game day. We also had socials and other events for students to interact. My dual
enrollment year, 2012-2013, I went to the high school each Friday for at least three hours to
assist with BEST Club. I thoroughly enjoyed all of my time working with those students. I
even joined the class to a few Special Olympics events such as floor hockey and swimming.

COMMUNITY
OUTREACH &
LEADERSHIP

SWIM COACH, WILDCAT SWIM CLUB

2009-PRESENT

The Wildcat Swim Club is a middle school club intended to help swimmers improve and get
introduced to high school events before they actually hit high school. This club practices
three days a week and typically has a meet each week. I coach all ability levels from grades
6 to 8 on this team.
SWIM COACH, DULUTH HIGH SCHOOL
2014-PRESENT

I am an assistant coach for Duluth High School. I am the coach for the beginner swimmers. I
coach them two days a week and attend most of their meets.
CHILDRENS CHAPEL LEADER, CHRIST CHURCH EPISCOPAL
2013-PRESENT

I began helping with Childrens Chapel at Christ Church every Sunday in 2012. I had helped
many years before, but not regularly. In 2013, I took over the program as the head or cohead leader. In 2014, I began designing and writing my own curriculum centered on a
monthly theme. Each week we read, discuss, do activities such as crafts and games, and
sing songs about a Bible story. All of the Bible stories for that month will have an
overarching theme. This class is designed for students ages 3-8 to grow and learn about the
stories of the Bible. It takes place during the first half of the main church service.
CHILDRENS CHRISTMAS PAGEANT DIRECTOR, CHRIST CHURCH EPISCOPAL
2013-PRESENT

In 2013, I stepped up to take on the role of Christmas Pageant Director for the children. I
soon wrote my own version of the Christmas story, which was a play that would be acted out
and recited by the children of the church. The pageant, although relatively short, was a huge
success. In 2014, I revamped my original script by adding in new scenes and larger
speaking parts. We also began planning four months in advance and have had two months
to practice. We are hoping it will be as great of a success as the last one. I run all of the
rehearsals. We rehearse to memorize lines and Christmas carols. The pageant is set up for
all of the children of the church between the ages of 3 and sixth grade. Some of the
pageanteers have speaking lines, while others will have group roles. I cast our pageant
based on student interest and participation. They are typically able to pick which roles they
would like to perform. I have found that by letting the children pick their roles, they are more
likely to be excited to perform the roles.
CATECHESIS OF THE GOOD SHEPHERD ASSISTANT, CHRIST CHURCH EPISCOPAL
2013-PRESENT

During the church service I attend and either Childrens Chapel or pageant rehearsal, I
assist in a Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Sunday School class. This class is designed to
nd
bring children ages 3-2 grade closer to God. I help the teachers manage the class and
help as needed.
LECTOR SCHEDULER, CHRIST CHURCH EPISCOPAL
2013-PRESENT

I have been a Lector, reader of the New Testament, at Christ Church since 2012. I decided
to be a Lector to gain confidence in speaking and reading in front of large groups of people.
In 2013, I decided to take on the leadership role of scheduling all of the Lectors to read on
different Sundays. As the youngest member of the scheduling committee, I have had a large

voice in the committee.

BRONZE AWARD, GIRL SCOUTS
2006

Along with my girl scout troop, I completed my Bronze Award in 2006. We set up a lock-in
for our younger members. The project required leadership and community service. We were
also required to complete many badges before we could earn the award. The project
required over ten hours of group planning.
