- Use 2 letters to spell am. I am running late for class.


- Change one letter to spell at. I want to have a sleepover at my friends house.
- Change one letter to spell it. I will be at my Grandmothers for dinner.
- Change one letter to spell in. An ant is tiny. An elephant is huge.

Three letter words:


5. tin Add one letter to spell tin. We kick the tin can down the street.
6. tan Change one letter to spell tan. My skin gets really tan in the summer. Tan can also be a color
that we find in our crayon boxes.
7. man Change one letter to spell man. My dad is a very tall man.
8. mat Change one letter to spell mat. We always keep a mat at the front door.
9. Tom Change one letter and rearrange to spell Tom. My Uncle Tom makes the best chili.
10. ton Change one letter to spell ton. There are 2,000 pounds in one ton.
11. nut Rearrange and take one letter away and add in a new letter to spell nut. My favorite type of
nut is a cashew.
Now were going to spell some bigger words.- I might give you the word or a clue or definition instead of the word.
12. cant Spell the contraction for the word cannot. Use a scrap to make an
apostrophe. (Check with a partner at your table if you need help.)
13. comic Spell what you would call a book that is mostly pictures and usually has a superhero as the
main character.
14. coconut Spell the word coconut. A coconut is a tropical fruit that grows in really tall trees.
Sometimes they are really hard to open because they have a tough outer shell.
15. mountain Spell the word that describes a giant hill. [The tallest one of these is Everest!]
Challenge or Secret Word:
Use all the letters to spell the secret or challenge word. (communication)
