Why Do UFC Fighters Fight?
Why do UFC fighters choose their profession, knowing the health risks it will cost? This
sports is the wild works of extreme sports. Getting into the ring to early is one of the biggest
mistakes a fighter can make. If one continuously gets hit in the head the brain can swell and can
lead to a concussion. Lungs can be filled with blood and seizures may occur (Clemmitt).
Injuries, such as, these can suggest that they will not be able to fight again. This extreme sport
combines deadly moves from kickboxing, jujitsu, sumo and other combat techniques mixed
together in an assortment of strategic moves (Clemmitt).
An interview with one of teenage fighters revealed his reasons for fighting in the first
place. During this interview Lewis explained how he was physically abused by his father as a
young boy and never knew how to fight to be able to retaliate back at him. When he got old
enough, he enrolled in martial arts courses and learned the basis of fighting and self defense. He
talked about how this not only helped him physically to be a stronger more agile individual, but
also how he prospered mentally and learned the art of fighting and how that impacts your overall
well being. Lewis continued to fight and practice and eventually ended up competing in
competitions around his home town and continued throughout the united states competing in
agile extreme "sport competitions" better known as cage fighting (Clemmett). Any kind of
fighting comes with its pros and cons. doctors have stated over the years the risks of any form of
physical abuse to your body dealing with fighting. It not only damages your outer appearance

such as cuts and bruises, but also internally. Several fighters can experience serious trauma to
their internal organs and blood vessels due to serious blows from an opponent's fist that they do
not realize are damaged until it becomes a serious problem (Clemmitt). doctors state the
importance of regular checkups and x-rays to keep a fighters body it top condition. Fighting is
good for building muscle and cardiovascular strength, but it has serious risks because a fighter is
damaging their body (Clemmitt).
Trainers work with the fighters to help them be the best that they can be. they teach their
fighters the importance of not only exercise, but also the importance of a healthy diet (Clemmitt).
they train them in areas dealing with physical improvement, but also with healthy internal
improvement. Boxing is one of the highest causing injuries and deaths than any other sport
(Clemmitt). Fighters fight for the rush of adrenaline. But fighters need to really understand the
importance of the health risks. Doctors and trainers need to take more consideration of the risks
and how the future of injures can lead to death or serious health problems.
