Temperature
Rio de Janeiro enjoys a tropical climate that
features high temperatures and plenty of
sunny weather throughout the year.
Temperature in the city stays between 25C
(77F) to 30C (86F).
The winter months, on the other hand, brings
colder weather.
Rio de Janeiro, experiences warm
temperature and plenty of rainfall all year
round.

Seasons
Summer
Summer begins in late November and lasts till March.
The daily maximum temperature stands at 29 C (84.20F).
In some regions it climbs dramatically and reaches at 40 C (104F).
Nighttime temperature stays at mid 20s, which is hot actually.
The city receives plenty of rainfall throughout the summer months, over 100mm per

Geology
With the exceptions due to altitude, vegetation and closeness to the ocean,
the climate is warm and humid.
Rio de Janeiro is at 22 latitude, so most of the time it receives direct rays year
round.
Elevation is not an issue for Rio de Janeiro because it is only 10 feet above sea
level.
It is surrounded by forest. These forest make it a tropical climate.
On the Western side of the city is a mountain, which helps keep moisture over
the city.
The winds cause some areas, especially the ones located near the ocean to be
cooler. However the southeasterly trade winds bring in warm water that cause
the warming of the city.
