Sampling Procedures

Sampling
Sampling involves any
procedure using a small
number of items or parts of
the whole population to make
conclusions regarding the
whole population.

Introduction
Sampling is a method of selecting
units of analysis such as
households, people, consumers,
companies etc from a population
(universe) of interest to a manager.
By analyzing the data collected
from the sample, inferences can be
drawn about the population
parameters.

Introduction
The aim of sampling is to throw
light on the population (universe)
parameter that is of interest to the
investigator.
A well thought out representative
random sample most of the times
gives meaningful insights into the
properties of the population
parameters. This is the very
foundation of statistical inference.

Sample
Subset of a larger
population
Sample is a part of the
population or sample unit
which is provided by the
process of selection with
the object of investigation
the properties of the
parent population or
sample unit.
