Chinese Culture
Topic: Chinese culture and stereotypes
Thesis: Chinese culture is vastly different from here in the U.S., but how we stereotype
the Chinese people blinds us from the unique lifestyle of the Chinese culture.

1. Introduction
a. The world is very diverse when it comes to culture. What one culture finds
to be normal, other cultures could have a different view on the subject.
Chinese culture is vastly different from the culture here in the U.S. and the
stereotypes that we made for the Chinese culture are false. Most people
only know what is around them and have not experienced living in a
different culture.

of China and what has made it what it is today.
2. First Point: Interesting facts about Chinese culture

baby

female

Transition: China culture is unique and with now knowing a little about their culture, I
am going to show you a clip of how they are represented in American society.
3. Second Point: Stereotypes about Chinese culture
a. Chinese people are portrayed poorly in American TV shows and cartoons.
i. When cartoons are made they use stereotypes so people will be
able to easily tell what ethnicity they are
b. Some stereotypes that I can talk about
i. All look the same
ii. Good at math
iii. Gambling
iv. Poor English
v. Illegal operations
c. People shouldnt base their views on a certain culture because of some
stereotype.
4. Conclusion
a. Chinese culture is very different from American culture, but what we see
in America shouldnt stereotype what the Chinese culture truly is. People
often base their opinions of a certain culture on the stereotypes that people
have made up based on their own opinion. Dont think different about
someone because of a stereotype that someone has given to that culture.
