Singly Symmetrical Sections

The analysis is simplified when a section is symmetric about either of the axes x or y. This
means that x and y are principal axes and that both the centroid G and the shear centre E will
lie along the axis of symmetry (x in Fig. 7.12a). In the case of a symmetrical section under
a single shear force F, (or F,), one or other term is omitted from eq(7.20). For example, in
