Summary – 4/8/08 Retain/Retrain Team
“Cape Fear Allied Health Regional Skills Partnership (RSP)”
Attendees: Yvonne English, Teresa Langley, Jane Jones, Walker Biggs, David La Garde, Rob Gerlach
Absent: Clarence Smith, Lashauna Parker, Velva Jenkins, Brenda Hewlett, Beverlee Nance
Accomplishments:
• Agreement to survey questions for both surveys (what info we need from employers and
employees).
• Agreement to an approach to selecting the employers to be surveyed from a comprehensive
list of employers.
• Agreement to additional recruiting needs for the team (if any).

Employer Survey
Yvonne & Teresa presented a proposed employer survey and the team recommended the following:
Add:
• Do you reimburse employees for travel to and from work?
• Paid Holidays
• Make it “Paid Vacation and “Paid Sick”
• What is your turnover rate (or range) for:
Licensed employees
Non licensed employees
• Add a blank line for “other”
Next Step: Take the survey to the Joint Employer Survey Team meeting on 4/25
Selecting Participants for the Employer Survey
Jane and David presented lists of the 25 largest employers for each of the 5 counties (lists are enclosed).
Of the 125 employers, they identified a total of 22 in the Allied Health business (although the Brunswick
Co. Hospitals did not show up in the list…..which would bring the count to 24).
Their proposal: Survey the 2425 largest Allied Health worker employers from the 5 counties.
Next Step: Take the lists and this proposed approach to the Joint Employer Survey Team meeting
on 4/25.
Employee Survey
Yvonne & Teresa presented a proposed employee survey and the team recommended the following:
Add:
• Reimbursement for travel to and from work?
• Paid Holidays
• Add a blank line for “other”
Next Steps: 1. Select employers for participation
2. Get permission from the employers
3. Visit the employer sites to deliver, explain and then collect the surveys
Team Recruiting
We decided on the following course of action:
• Call those team members who have not yet attended to see if they still wish to participate:
Velva Jenkins, Brenda Hewlett
• Recruit Beverly Nance
• Recruit from NJRMC and CC’s
• Recruit Della Wortham (NHRMC)
