School Counseling Program Mission Statement

The mission of Rydell High School is to provide a high-quality, comprehensive

program that will develop and fortify all students academic, career, personal and
character growth. We will encourage positive student outcomes and systemic change
by following state and national guidelines. A majority of the school counselors time will
be spent in direct contact with students; providing core curriculum education, advocacy,
and social justice to all students. The school counselors will partner and collaborate with
other educators, administrators, and family members to ensure that each student may
confidently integrate into, and act as a positive contributor of, an ever-changing society.

School Counseling Program Goals

The school counseling program will focus on the following achievement, attendance,
behavior and/or school safety goals this year. Details of activities promoting these goals are
found in the curriculum, small-group and closing-the-gap action plans.

Program Goal Statements

1 Increase overall attendance by 15%.
2 Decrease instances of fights or altercations by targeting individuals with repeat offenses for
individual counseling.
3 Increase graduation rates by 5% by implementing the Upward Bound program at Rydell.
