Creating a Manual Assessment

This is should always be used for English Language Arts Assessments.


1. Log into PowerTeacher > click Schoolnet (found in the lower left hand
corner of the screen)
2. In the blue menu bar at the top of the Schoolnet page, mouse over
Assessment Admin > click Create
3. Choose Create a Test Manually > Start Now
4. Enter your Manual test information
a. Test name, subject, grade level
b. Change the Number of Items to 1
c. Select your test Category

d. In the preferred standards document, select your standards (the


default standard is English Language Arts)
5. Scroll to the bottom after choosing the other settings > Generate Test
6. The next screen allows you to choose which Item Type to start with > Look
up in Item Central (found at the bottom right hand corner).
7. On the next screen you can look by Passages or by Items.
a. Language Arts teachers should look by Passages.
8. Begin filtering your search
a. Select Classroom Items > Select 4 Classroom- 4 Answer Choice
b. Select Subject > Select your Subject
c. Select Grade > Select your grade to begin and end your assessment
d. Select Standards > Select the standards you are choosing to assess
9. After choosing standards, click on View Results
10. For Passages:

Look at the title of the Passages, if you want to see the questions and the full
length passage click the blue View button.
For Items:
Check the box for all items to include: Save at the end of each page,
when looking at the next page, it will not save what was selected on the
previous page.

11. Add items to test


12. When you added all your items and feel read to schedule the test select
Ready to Schedule. If you are creating a shared assessment, you will first
need to Make Public before scheduling. Select Schedule
13. Fill in your test settings
a. Start Date
b. End Date
c. Score Due Date (the date you would like all scores to be entered into
your Gradebook)
d. You may change the Online Passcode but it must be unique to the
district for example: SimonsRead14
e. Select testing options for your students. English Language Arts
assessments, do not scramble questions but you can scramble answer choices.
14. Select Edit Assignment > Assign to classes you wish to take the assessment
15. Click Done when completed and then select Save on the Test Details Page.
Your assessment is now complete and ready to be completed by students!
