In this article, the author argues from a pro-choice standpoint; part of the authors
argument is that the woman carrying the child should be the one who gets to determine and
decide what happens to her body. An individuals right to decide what happens to them prevails
the right of another beings body if they were the ones who made them. It gives two examples of
the People-Seeds and the Violinist. Both of these lean toward being pro-choice when it
comes to abortion.

Foster. "Denial of Abortion Because of Provider Gestational Age Limits in the United
States." American Journal of Public Health 104.9 (2014): E1-E8. Print
This article focus on the gestational age limits at abortion facilities that influence the
delay for seeking abortions and the outcome of women denied them because of their age.
The results of this study show that 4000 US women are denied an abortion a year because
of the gestational limits and then have to carry pregnancies to term without having
another choice.

What freedom looks like is the base of this article; it points that maybe our society and
Supreme Court has influenced other peoples choice on abortion because of more cultural
aspects. Is it okay to influence another human beings view on a choice only because you
think yours is better? Another interesting point this article makes is that two Supreme
Courts addressed state laws that would require husbands involvement before a wifes
abortion.

This article is set in the rural areas of Ghana where a womans body is more someone
elses rather than her own. There is a huge leap in unsafe abortion in countries like these
because of religious and cultural beliefs of abortion. Many nations have tried to liberalize
abortion laws to protect the lives of women but still seem to deal with these type of issues
in rural countries. Some of the barriers for getting an abortion on Ghana include financial
issues (fees, lack of transportation), and significant social barriers because of the culture.

This study looks into the mental disorders of what some women may have when choosing
to get an abortion. It is always a risk that undoable choice may be made due to a disorder
like depression or even just anxiety. It talks about the idea of having to make every
woman go through a psych evaluation before they can go through with having an

abortion. The study also shows that fetal loss seems to expose women to a higher risk for
mental disorders than childbirth.

and Trends By Womans Age at Termination." International Perspectives on Sexual and
Reproductive Health 38.3 (2012): 143-53. Print.
In most countries, the highest-age specific abortion rates and proportions of abortions
were among women aged 20-29. This is age group is highest because of unmet needs for
contraception or difficulty keeping up with them on a daily basis. Abortion has increased
the most in Belgium, the Netherlands, and Scotland. They have decreased in Estonia,
Hungary, Iceland, Slovakia, and Slovenia. This article helped assess trends due to
unintended pregnancy by age when they terminate the baby.

Brown, Sally. "Is Counselling Necessary? Making the Decision to Have an Abortion. A
Qualitative Interview Study." The European Journal of Contraception and Reproductive
Health Care (2013): 44-48. Print.
This article goes along with the psych evaluation but is more of a counselling situation
rather than deciding if someone is competent enough to make the decision of having an
abortion. It talks about whether it should be required for women to see a counselor before
going through with their decision. The majority of the women interviewed for this study
said that they had already come to the decision that they would get an abortion before
even letting family know or going in for their first few appointments.

Culture's Dependence on Abortion and Its Cure." Christian Bioethics: 198-241. Print.
The dependence of abortion on society today has made it seem like less of a big deal and
more like an easy fix or quick way out of an unwanted situation. The article states that
our culture today has made abortion a normal part of life rather than a last option for a
serious case. The authors are strictly pro-life.
Mathewes-Green, Frederica. "How Feminism Went Wrong: Abortion as the Price for
Conformity with the Male Model." Christian Bioethics (2013): 130-32. Print.
This article especially stood out to me because it is such a real problem in the world
today. Not necessarily a problem, but something that definitely exists. It focus on
feminist who choose to get an abortion because of fear that their unborn child will get in
the way of their relationships, education, or career. It talks about the higher rates of
abortion due to sex without commitment because these type of women are generally
focused on themselves. In both cases though, it may not always be what the woman
desires.
