the ISTE Standards-Students.

up their knowledge of current toolsets in the digital age so that they can be model
digital citizens.

Teachers must understand the pros and cons related to technology use, make sure
students follow internet/technology safety, and the teachers role as a facilitator of
technology. Teachers should demonstrate appropriate and professional behavior in
accordance with the law.

a. Teachers advocate, model, and teach safe, legal, and ethical use of digital
information and technology, including respect for copyright, intellectual
property, and the appropriate documentation of sources.

A teachers role in digital technology is to make sure students understand the
importance of using information properly, such as citing any information from the
Internet so that no copyrights are infringed or that any persons ideas are copied
without adequate permission or documentation. Its imperative to demonstrate that
computers and the Internet are wonderful tools to use, but are frequently abused
through other peoples work being used without proper citation. Their use should be
properly facilitated.

b. Teachers address the diverse needs of all learners by using learner-centered


strategies and providing equitable access to appropriate digital tools and
resources.

Positives of this chat tool were:

It was fairly easy to set up.


Sound quality was good.
Video wasnt laggy.
The onscreen picture was large.
It works within our ODU Gmail framework.

Negatives of using this chat tool were:


We could not view or edit each others documents, so we spent a lot of time
speaking our ideas to each other. This is less efficient than being able to view
onscreen documents. This is my only negative to Google Hangouts.
