EIP Reflection
When I first started looking for a topic to research I found some topics that
would have been okay for EIP. However, I wanted to research something new. I wanted
to challenge myself. That is why I picked economics and class. At the beginning I didnt
know what to narrow it down to. With a little help from my instructor I was able to
narrow it down to researching this problem back in Saudi Arabia. To be completely
honest, I thought I knew all about economics and class in Saudi Arabia. Apparently I was
very wrong. I figured that out after I finished the research. I started doing my research
with some reading about this common issue in all of our societies. I couldnt find any
thing special or interesting. As I was looking for resources to get some information out
of them, I had an idea for my resources that would benefit me. That way is interviewing
close family members who lived long before I was born like my grandfather. I
interviewed all the members that had a different experience with this issue. For
instance, we have different costumes and traditions than the ones here in the US. The
schools and universities we have are either for girls only or for boys only. In other word,
they have their own community. I wanted to research even the past of this issue and
how did it start. After interviewing them, I received some good information and
knowledge. Using that information and knowledge I was able to complete my research.
The research started ruff because I didnt know from where could I possible get
information about economic and class in Saudi Arabia especially papers in the internet. I

tried to find resources on the Internet, I found one or two but I didnt thought that the
material those articles held wasnt satisfying to me because I wanted it more focused
and precise. I then had the interviewing idea. From that I found a lot good information
that met my expectations. For instance, I was really interested in what my father
thought about the start of this civilizational issue. I found it from him, that it started long
before our time when our ancestors stated trading good between each other. As some
people became rich and others became poor, then class became a distinctive feature of
those who are doing economically well. I like free writing because after all, the paper is
the ideal way to express how I feel about a certain issues. I also like note cards method
but free writing gives me the freedom I need to show and illustrate my findings in a
clear way.
One more thing that enhanced my writing in this particular assignment is the
help of my group aka The Group. With another persons opinion I am wiser so having
their opinion was really helpful. They helped with small errors that I couldnt notice. In
my point of view, having such diverse group is beneficial to all group members. With
another perspective on my side I gain more information on this matter. With their help I
was able to get rid of the little error that I usually make unintentionally.
The first Inquiry I did was for ENG1101. I didnt have this much passion for writing back
then. More or less, my inquiry for that was okay but it was traditional. By that I mean,
researching in articles and books and that can bring boredom in a lot of cases. In this
extended inquiry I used interviews and I consider it better than to read articles for
information. It depends on the topic ofcourse but for my topic interview was just what I
needed to have my research questions answered. I recommend using interviews over
the classical way of researching because its always interesting to see how the other
person thinks about this issue.

I learned a lot of things from all the tasks of the EIP and all of these things are
different. I improved my academic writing by doing the drafts and the proposal and I
learned how to investigate and interview and site all of my resources from doing the
annotated bibliography. I learned how convert the facts I learned into information and
present it in my own words thanks to the long hours of writing the essay. I am grateful
for my instructors and all my classmates help in this assignment and I will always value
you.
