Higher Order Questions: How are the perspectives different and similar in the two selections?
Student Activities: Students will be connecting the main idea of the short story to real life experiences
through reading, writing, making connections, and thinking critically and
independently.
Teacher Input/Lesson Activity: (10 min.) re-explain the overall question and get students
thinking about the importance of telling the truth.
Modeling: (10 min.) Read the poem Tell all the Truth but tell it slant- out loud in class.
Guided Practice: (10 min.) Class discussion and answering some of the questions out loud
from the book.
Independent Practice: (20 min.) Students will answer the question, How does the idea of
telling the truth apply to both selections?
Lesson Closure: (5 min.) Must hand in their ARC question by the end of class for a grade.
Assessment Methods/Strategies: ARC question, which reflects the answers they will give on
STAAR.
