BASEKETBALL GAME/CLOSURE
GRADE LEVEL: Secondary
TEACHER: Joe Garcia
CLASS: Team Sports 1
DATE: November 20, 2014
AGENDA:
Introduction (3-4 min):
Reiterate skills learned
Discuss safety
Explain game rules
Split group into skilled and unskilled
Utilize peer leaders when playing game
Culminating (16-18 min):
10 min Game 1
Students will be separated by skill level
Skilled students will be on one side of basketball court and non-skilled will be on
opposite side of court
Each side of the court will have a ball
Skilled will be 5 on 5 and non-skilled will be 3 on 3
Games will played using a scoring system
o 1 point for scoring the basketball
o 2 points if the score was off an assist
o 3 points if the offense scored using a skill learned (screen, pick and roll
etc.)
o 1 point will be scored on the defense if they prevent the offense from
scoring
Teams will play until someone scores. Once a player scores Offense will move
to the sideline, defense goes to offense and sideline goes to defense
Teams will switch regardless if a player a misses a shot. If that happens, defense
scores a point.
Teams will tally their points to determine a winner when whistle blows
10 min- Game 2 (King of the Court)
Students will again be split by skill level
Skilled will be 5 on 5 and non-skilled will be 3 on 3
The difference in this game is that now the students may play off the rebound
and continue running an offense or defense. There will be no stoppage of play
until one of the teams score

When someone scores, the defending team will move off the court and a new
set of players will move onto the court
The perk of this game is that a peer leader will be utilized as a coach to ensure
that players are not becoming too stagnant

Closing: Get feedback from students on what they learned and what they liked.
OBJECTIVES:
Cognitive: Students will be able to use and understand proper sequence of steps and
perform variety of basketball movements.
Affective: Students will effectively communicate about proper techniques, and
participate efficiently as a group. Have Fun!!!!!
Psychomotor: Students will be able to independently perform proper techniques by
using all basketball skills learned, according to the rules and regulations.

2 basketballs
