1. For someone working in your field, please describe the fantasies versus realities of the job.
(fantasy vs. reality)
- Its hard to answer this question because I see IT career is not one field so you will not spend time
dream about its fantasy but you will spend time to study many areas in this career as much as you can
and pick the most one you like and then study/practice more on it.
And you will not finish that until you find yourself finished the undergraduate study.
2. What is your current educational level? What continuing education and training are required?

Education: B.Sc. in Computer Systems Engineering.
Training: Microsoft developing courses (MCAD, MCT)
3. Please describe the typical day to day activities of someone working in your field.

- My activities is related to Computer Science more than Computer Engineering.

Identify technologies to be evaluated, recommend solutions .


Lead technical development teams for custom application development projects.
Create custom ETL tools and maintain data integrity.
Integrate applications with legacy systems on various platforms and engage in environment
setup.
Solving complex business requirements, involving scope definition, requirements analysis,
functional and technical design, UAT, production deployment, and post production support.
Ability to create and deliver technical presentations to technical and non-technical staff, as
appropriate to the target audience.

4. How secure are you in your current position? What do you think is the future of your field?

As IT consultant (contractor not employee), its not secure but I believe the market is still thirst for more
IT people. So its not a big fear for me.
You have to work hard to become unique in the field as much as you can.

5. What is a typical (average or lowest to highest) salary of someone working in your field?

- It depends on which area in IT you choose to be professional in it.
- But it is easily to get job with $80K
6. What potential for growth is there in your field?
(growth potential)
- This field is really grow rapidly but thats the problem, you have to be updated with today technologies.
- Your work experience must go hand by hand with your learning of today technology.
7. What inspired/encouraged you to choose this career?
- Love of mathematics with all of its fields.
- Take 9-months extensive IT course (IT Professional Diploma) during my undergraduate before
specialize in Computer Systems Engineering.
8. Are there too many or too few people entering your profession? Why?
- Too many but too few
- IT career is really wide career.
- But when you specialize in one of its area, you will see there are few people.
- But taking the Indian into the equation so its not few at all.
- You have to think globally which is mean you are compete against world-wide not only your
city/state/country. Because most companies outsourcing IT to Asia.
9. Considering all the people you have met with in your line of work, what personal attributes are essential
for success?
- Commitment and determination and love to excel in your career.
- Always have a spirit of Yes, I can do it and I will do it.
10. Why do people leave the field of work?
- The only reason is they gave up the competition:
o They have to compete worldwide.
o They have to compete with the new graduates too.
