Page Summary

Going to the History museum was an exciting field trip! It was a great experience
where I had fun with my classmates and learned at the same time. I had been there once
before but did not pay much attention to the rocks and minerals. This time that I went I
had more knowledge of them. I was able to point out some of the rocks and minerals we
had studied in class. I learned the many places rocks and minerals come from as they
each had a description. The gemstones inside the vault for example distinguish from
other minerals. They are more valuable. The fluorescence section caught my attention
because they were very interesting to look at. I did not know prior to this trip that there
were rocks that glow in the dark.
If I was doing a lesson on rocks and minerals I would definitely have my students
go on a fieldtrip to see them for themselves. It gives the students a better
understanding of the subject because the museum has most of the rocks and minerals I
would not have in a classroom. There are museum guides that offer help to students when
they have a question making them knowledgeable and not feeling lost. I feel that the
students will be intriguer to learn more about them because of the many colors and forms
found here.
