Professional Team Meetings

Meeting with Assistant Principal, Ms. Stone: (October 28th, 2014)

Three or four times a month, our leadership team meets with the assistant

principal of Trace Crossings Elementary, Mrs. Stone, to discuss how Samford can
best assist the school. At each meeting, we discuss how we can help promote and
plan events that are happening across the school. During this particular meeting, we
discussed the details of Centennial day and other upcoming opportunities for
Samford students at Trace Crossings. For centennial day, Leadership team
coordinated this celebration for the Samford Orlean Bullard Beeson School of
Educations (OBB) 100th birthday. At this event, all of Trace Crossings 2nd grade
students came to Samford to experience simulation classrooms from different
historical eras and then ended the day with a birthday party for the schools
birthday. As a team, we coordinated, marketed, and delegated tasks to make this
event a big success. We also talked about various Professional Development events
happening at Trace that we as a team could market to our Samford classmates to
better their individual practices.

4th Grade Team Meeting: (November 6th, 2014)

During this meeting, the principal, assistant principal, the math and reading

coaches, and all of the 4th grade teachers met to discuss challenges they are facing
and any changes to students tiered instruction. It was interesting to see how
intentional the teachers were about deciding how to move their children in or out of

tiers. Also, teachers gave advice to one another about strategies that they have tried
in similar situations that were either successful or unsuccessful. Also, the math and
reading coaches made suggestions about students needs and reported their
progress in sessions with her. Overall, I saw that educating a child is a team effort. It
requires support, constructive criticism, feedback, and reliable sources for advice
and encouragement.
