1.1 Viking T20 generally adopts the Official ICC 20/20 rules and the official laws of cricket.
1.2 Any changes to these laws will be made knowledgeable through this document.
1.3 Viking T20 reserves the right to change or modify any rules deemed appropriate to do so.
Changes to these rules will be made known to all appropriate captains and umpires.
1.4 All payers competing in a Viking T20 tournament agrees to follow these rules and
regulations, ad that not doing so will result in consequences including fines and/or
termination from a tournament.

Team Participation
2.1 Each registered team is to have a minimum of 12 and a maximum of 20 players in a squad.
NO changes are to be made to an existing squad unless prior consent is given from Viking T20
management.
2.2 In order to participate in a tournament all members of a teams squad must have paid their
FULL registration fees by the given cut off date.
2.3 A team may have up to 6 substitutes used in a game all of which must be registered. A
reason must be given to the umpire before a substitution is made, and it is up to the umpire to
approve the substitution based on whether or not it is done in the spirit of the game.
2.4 The duties that must be performed by a captain can be found here.
2.5 The minimum # of players required to constitute a game will be 8. Provided the match is in
the group stages, a lower number may be accepted if both captains and the umpire agrees.

Over Rates
3.1 Each match will have a maximum of 20 overs played per innings (+ extras).
3.2 Each innings of 20 overs will have a requirement to be bowled in 80 minutes. Slow over
rates will induce a runs penalty where 1 run will be added to the batting team per minute of
slow over rate (provided it is due to the bowling team wasting time based on the umpires
discretion).
3.3 The captain responsible for a slow over rate will be given a warning. If the captain is to
receive a 2nd warning, a fine of $50 will incur. A 3rd warning will be a fine of $50 and a 1 match
suspension.
3.4 The expected amount of overs to be bowled per hour is 15.
3.5 It is the captains responsibility to ensure a team is present to take part in a match. Teams
are expected to arrive at least 20 minutes before the games scheduled start time, with the toss
to be done 15 minutes beforehand.
3.6 If a delay does occur:
First 10 minutes 1 over will be lost from both sides
Every 5 minutes after that 1 over will be lost from both sides.

The minimum amount of overs to constitute a match will be 13.

If a match is delayed to the extent where a match would have to be played with less
than 13 overs, it will be abandoned unless both captains and the umpire come to an
alternate agreement.
If one team arrives on time, and the other team delays past the 13 over deadline, the
team that arrived early will be declared the winner.
If both teams fail to arrive before the 13 over deadline the match will be declared a noresult and will not be re-played.
If there is a rain delay the minimum overs to complete a match will be 5. IF the match is
abandoned due to the rain, points will be split unless an alternate arrangement can be
worked out between both captains and the umpire.
3.7 The time allowed for an innings break will be 8 minutes.

Drinks Break
4.1 There will be no formal drinks break in a Viking T20 tournament, however, if the weather is
hot enough, the umpire will allow an exception.

The Ball
5.1 The match ball for all synthetic matches will be a 2 piece leather ball.
5.2 There will be 1 new ball used for each innings.
5.3 Viking T20 will provide the match ball for each innings.
5.4 If the ball is lost or damaged, the umpire may replace the existing ball with a ball deemed to
be similar.
5.5 All balls must be returned to the umpire or a Viking T20 representative at the conclusion of
the innings.
5.6 If, at the umpires discretion, a team is found to be tampering with a ball, a replacement ball
may be supplied, with 5 runs added to the batting side, and the fielding captain to face a $30
penalty for a first offence.

Super Over
6.1 In the event of a tied match at any stage during a tournament a super over will be played at
the conclusion of the match to determine the result.
6.2 Each team will be required to select 3 batsmen and 1 bowler.
6.3 The team with the most runs at the completion of 1 over per side will be declared the
winner. If this is tied, then the team which has hit the most sixes will be the winner. If this is
tied, the most boundaries will be calculated. In the unlikely event that this is also tied, there will
be a bowl off.
6.4 The loser of a bowl off will be the team to miss the stumps first.

Points and net run rate
7.1 The winning team will be allocated 4 points
7.2 The losing team will be allocated 0 points
7.3 In the event of a no-result, both teams will receive 2 points
7.4 If a match is forfeited, the team that has forfeited will lose 1 point, with the other team to
receive 4 points.
7.5 Net run rate will be calculated by total runs scored divided by total runs conceded
multiplied by 100. For example, if a team has scored 520 runs after 4 matches and has
conceded 490 runs, the equation to determine net run rate will be 520/490 * 100 = 106.12

Rain Delays/ Bad weather

8.1 In the event of a match cancelation due to bad weather, captains and umpires will be
notified at least 2 hours before the scheduled start time of the match.
8.2 If it is lightly drizzling, the match may still go ahead, with the umpire to have the final say in
whether to cancel a match or not based on the safety and condition of the ground.
8.3 If a match is abandoned due to bad weather, there may sometimes be a reserve day for it to
be replaced, however the captains and umpire may determine another course of action (for
example a super over or a bowl off). If there is no reserve day allocated for a game, and the
conditions do not suit for an alternate arrangement, points will be split.
8.4 If there is a rain delay during the 2nd innings, a minimum of 5 overs will be required from the
batting side in order for a result to be constituted. This will be calculated using the DuckworthLewis calculation. If the D/L method is not applicable, it will be based on the batting sides run
rate as opposed to their required run rate.

Bowling
9.1 Each bowler is allowed a maximum of 4 over per innings, or in the case of a reduced overs
match 1/5th of the total overs.
9.2 1 short pitched deliver (bouncing above shoulder height) will be allowed per over. Any more
than this will be called a wide.
9.3 A no-ball of any sort will be a free-hit rewarded to the batting side.
9.4 A waist high full toss will be called a no-ball for both pace bowlers and spin bowlers.

Fielding Restrictions
10.1 For the first 6 overs of an innings, the fielding side will be allowed a maximum of 2 players
outside the inner circle. The inner circle will usually be marked by cones, however if it is not,
it will be determined as being 25-30 metres from the pitch, as at the umpires discretion.

each captain being told before the start of the match.
10.3 A maximum of 5 fielders will be allowed on the leg side at the release of a ball.
10.4 A no-ball will be called if any of the fielding restrictions are breached, with the batsman to
then receive a free-hit.

11.1 All playing members are to wear the official Viking T20 playing shirt purchased through
registration. Players are to wear their own white or cream pants, or may wear colored pants,
provided they have been approved by Viking T20 and all members of the team wear the same

12.1 All players are to behave in a respectable manner. Misbehavior will be reported by the
umpire, with the appropriate consequences to then follow, which may include fines and/or
match suspensions.
12.2 All incidents that can be reported are based on the umpires discretion in relation to
whether it goes against ethical and moral standards or against the spirit of cricket.
