Ive been a part of the MGO community for 8 years. Im studying game development
in Germany and Im aware of the conflict between game usuability and marketing.
Also I organized and hosted tournaments for a variety of games with partners such as
EA and Konami.
Game accounts
Do not use a Konami ID! Let people use their PSN-ID/XBL-Gamertag. Also read
competitive level-up abit below.
Maps
Add some popular MGO1/MGO2 maps:
High Ice
Brown Town already made a comeback on MGO2 -> Coppertown Conflict
Killhouse B highly missed by the community. This map was used for 1vs1s
Grozny Grad
Ingame Competition
Weekly competition
Survival and tournaments on MGO2 were highly popular, especially because
you could win several unique items. They were a long-time-motivation and
kept people tied to MGO2. Also it caused alot of clanmatches.
eSport
Definitely come up with tournaments such as a world championship. Maybe even
partner up with tournament/league hosters.
Game mechanics
Aim assist
Auto-Aim is fine as long as its lock-on range is different for each weapon
Auto-Aim should be canceled by a player using the box and not moving
Buy-your-weapon-system
MGO2 had drebin points and I guess in MGO3 it will be reward points. Very
good!
Level-up
Leveling-up
Should be based on wins and not on individual plays. That assures teamplay,
flow and dynamic. (Example: Halo 2)
Ranks
Foxhound, Fox etc. emblems and requirements to get a specific emblem
should be kept from MGO2. Individual plays are important here.
Competitive level-up
If you add weekly Survival/Tournaments you need a seperate leveling-up
system. On MGO2 it was Grade Points (GP) and shown in a players profile. Its
very important to level-up by winning but the problem with MGO2 was that
when a team with high average GP (GP of all players on the team added up
and divided by the number of players on the team) had to play a team with
low average GP, the team with high avg GP always leveled down because the
other team had a much lower GP. People started creating new accounts with
zero GP and forced other teams to level-down which caused alot of frustration.
Keep the system and let people use their PSN-ID/XBL-Gamertag or come up
with a different level-up system. Maybe put teams into divisions and let them
rank up and down based on their performance.
Clan level-up
XP bar that fills up when the clan wins a match atleast 3 players from the clan
need to be on the team to make it count
Character
Do not create character classes. Let the character use any weapon.
Team Deathmatch
Rescue
Capture the flag (Ga-Ko)
Teamsneak (one of the most wanted modes) one team with stealth camo
and stun weapons only and the other team with no stealth and lethal weapons
Base
Bomb
Clans
You guys should definitely create a clan system like MGO2 had. Very few console
games have such support and it would be missed so much.
Game servers
Lobby servers needed! The community loves to create their own list of gametypes
that are played on the host since MGO1.
Chat
Textchat
MGOs textchat has always been highly appreciated and needs to be added in
MGO3 too.
Soundchat
Let everyone on the team speak. On MGO2 only one player could speak while
the others were blocked. That hindered teams to coordinate and react to tons
of situations.
