Macbeth
Assignment 10
Part 2

Lady Macbeths strengths are that she is not a coward. She is a planner and is very perceptive and able.
For example, When Macbeth forgot the daggers she went back and got them and place them with the
guards. Lady Macbeth also has weaknesses. She is loyal and sentimental, when it comes to herself. For
example, she could not kill the king because he looked like her father when he was asleep. This is also
the reason she did not kill the king herself, and Macbeth had to do it. When Macbeth was upset about
killing the king, Lady Macbeth told Macbeth not to think about it and it would just go away, the
philosophy of out of sight out of mind. She helped Macbeth deal with his fears because they framed the
others so well that no one would suspect them.
The most memorable picture of the scene is the porter opening the gates of hell. The words that come
to mind are; hot, red, fire, dark, horns on the porters head, pitch fork, and bulging eyes. The scene
reminds me of a short, fat guy, a little drunk telling people they are entering the gates of hell. I chose
this because the picture was so clear in my head as I was reading it.
Macbeth seems paranoid of his future, even though he is to be the kings. Macbeth as King does not
seem as noble as Macbeth the warrior. He has a hidden agenda now and is suspicious of everyone.
Before Macbeth killed Duncan he was seeking to be king. He was imagining how great it would be. After
he killed Duncan all he can think about is that someone will find out what he did and he would be
doomed. Also, in the scene after he killed Duncan people screamed and it remained as dark as night
during the day. The owl killed the hawk and the earth shook. Macbeths state of mind became confused
and suspicious. He kept rambling owl without thinking. . I do not feel sympathy for Macbeth because
he killed the king just so he could be king.
Macbeth and Lady Macbeth feel unhappy while they are king and queen. They are always afraid
someone will find out what they did. They are caught in a web of lies. They are also scared because
they committed a mortal sin by killing someone and will be damned to hell. They both have a conscious.
If you have a conscious and commit a planned murder it will always haunt you as it does both of them.
Macbeth is conflicted about the murder. He has a lot of guilt. His guilt is coming to him as a ghost and
killing object. He is very conflicted on why he actually murdered them and seems to wish to it back. He
is becoming so obsessed with the guilt of his crime that he is starting to go crazy and hallucinate objects
and ghost from the crime.
