Community Involvement Collaboration Another important collaboration that is necessary for teachers and students to engage in is with the general community. We must work as a team to involve ourselves in the community and demonstrate leadership qualities so that others will follow in the same path. Some of the ways that we can get involved in the community are: Extra-curricular activities (ie. being a mentor or team member in sports or clubs) Volunteer work (ie. the class could pick up garbage around the community, food or money donations for charities) Field trips (ie. visiting the local nature center) Selling school products to raise money (ie. students may visit houses or businesses and sell Student Union Ticket books) Gaining volunteer support (ie. during festivals, career days, school celebrations, in the classroom — this may include parents, guest speakers such as a police officer, school advisors, business owners or other professionals) School projects (ie. some schools may do a scavenger hunt, where they find their items hidden at certain establishments and raise money in the process) School Community Engagement Continuum Diversity tthe community involved inthe roc io 7 it ongoine. frequent cere etcment| _OPPOrtuniity tecommunty haste be involedin the project Boas ina i: curate, car Pata ahahowspateny __ Understanding the community hast the project soci aan sees mt wesge SUPPOTT tecommuniy provides for students leringin andoutofschootandfor aguas wean emane imme jthoee implementing te profect integrated ened Ownership otthe community for the project's progress _ Se ee, xt unweeoring se wening romconmunicative communicative, appreciate Seeeae Celebration vy community ofthe project's successes ee care ‘unenthusasl state Summary af evidence used to datermin We rails of school ammanRyenanBee School emmanity Engagement Rubre ord Continuum 5 Febroary 7.2012 gy kk ‘Sanat
