o I know how to use appropriate language to guide and solve problems. I also have the knowledge
of helping children in difficult situations and solving these situations.

o This assignment showed me how to differentiate between teacher-directed and child-directed
play. I learned how to ask children open-ended questions during their play.

o I know how to use I messages, redirection, and what tools to use while the conflict is
happening. Also, knowing how to identify these tools and which work best with each child.

o This assignment helped me understand that children can also problem solve without a teachers
help and children will ask for help when they need it.

o I was able to have lots of practice with redirection during my student teaching. I think I have
shown progress with conflict negotiation.

about what they were doing.

o This assignment has influenced my beliefs about appropriate guidance strategies by actually
working with children and what works best with each child. I was able to figure out which
strategies worked best with certain children.

o This assignment influenced my belief about appropriate guidance strategies by knowing that
children do not always need a teachers help to be successful. Sometimes children can really learn
by the help of their friends or even by themselves.

upon your existing knowledge and skills and your teaching.
As I continue working in the preschool environment, I will keep on practicing conflict negotiations with
children and learning which tools work best for each child.
I will continue learning how to use open-ended questions with children and having plenty of interactions
with children to form relationships with these children.
I have learned how important it is to form relationships with children during my student teaching. It has
helped me solve conflicts with children knowing how they act around the classroom. I think keeping a
photo journal in the future would help me catch interest of the children and seeing how to further help
them with conflicts.
