MEDIA ADVISORY

December 8, 2014
Loving Hearts, Little Hands
In the heart of Winnipeg during the Assembly of First Nations National Chief Election, the Assembly of
Manitoba Chiefs along with the Winnipeg Police Service will co-host a pancake breakfast fundraiser to
help assist families and children dealing with domestic abuse. Many First Nation families and children in
Winnipeg and throughout Canada struggle to stay afloat, and their socio-economic status is a large
reason why many children are apprehended and leads to the unfortunate numbers of Missing and
Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls. AMC and the Winnipeg Police Service will continue their
working relationship by jointly putting on this event to raise money for ongoing essential services to First
Nations families and children in Winnipeg. Monetary donations will be accepted to help fund programs
at Ma Mawi Chi Itata Centre that helps strengthen families, children and communities.
