prediction and goal
of zero new cases by Christmas
seems to actually be wishful
thinking as some in diplomatic
circles have said before. On
Monday when President Ellen
Johnson Sirleaf launched the
Ebola Must Go Campaign at
the Christ Kingdom Harvest
Church, she set a new one.
Speaking at the launch of the
program attended by Anthony
Banbury head of the United
Nations Ebola Emergency
Response (UNMEER) and
other government officials,
President Sirleaf said she wants
2014 to close without Ebola.
This campaign is a nationwide
effort, between the government
and our partners and the
people of Liberia particularly
to achieve the national goal of
no new cases by the end of the
year, she said. We have made
great progress in stopping
Ebola, but we know that the
disease is still in our country.
We all have to intensify our
efforts, to travel that very
difficult last mile.
President Sirleaf, optimistic
about the significant progress
Liberia has made in combating
the virus, said Liberia must now
set a new code of allegiance and
make it a commitment to see
Ebola completely eradicated
from Liberia.
Through our efforts, the
disease has retreated into
places that are hard to reach.
So, it is now in communities,
across Liberia, sometimes in
our rural areas, difficult to get
to and we must find a way to
deal with it, she said.
Continued President Sirleaf:
We must all be committed to
say, Ebola must go. We know
its real, weve passed the stage
of saying it is real. We now say,
Ebola must go. This is why I
am joining this community,
which has been such a strong
group in fighting Ebola. We are

didnt have the number of bed
space, he said.

Today, were far approaching
about 2,000 beds in our
country. At the time, to test
somebody, to say yes this
he said.

we have about nine laboratories

He noted that the Liberian

Robert Sirleaf lawsuit a joke
Cllr.
Brumskine
believes
Liberia must not be allowed to
descend into an environment
that breeds what he called
terrorism and extremism thus
calling on President Sirleaf to
yield to talks on the streets of
Monrovia and other parts of the
country to cancel the executive
order.
Commenting on the planned
lawsuit
by
Montserrado
County independent senatorial
candidate Robert A. Sirleaf
against his mothers executive
order,
Cllr.
Brumskine
described the move as an act
that brings the presidency
of Liberia to a new low thus
indicting that the President and
her son are taking Liberia for a
joke.
Said Brumskine: Would
anybody give credence to the
fact that Robert Sirleaf suing

how cruel they are. So why
would they attempt to make
a mockery of our system of
government in this country.
Its a sad thing. I will not pay
attention to it and I dont think
anybody else will pay attention
to the fact that Robert Sirleaf is
suing his mother.
President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf
according to an Executive
Mansion
release,
signed
Executive Order No. 65, on
December 3, 2014, which she
said is intended to strengthen
the efforts of the Government
of Liberia to contain the spread
of Ebola, protect the security
of the State, maintain law and
order, and promote peace and
stability in the country.
The executive order number
65 orders all concerted mass
movements of people on the
streets of Monrovia during
the ensuing special elections,
including in particular rallies,
demonstrations and parades
prohibited and for 30 days after
the announcement of election
results.
Executive Order No. 65 notes
that the existing law requiring
persons desiring to march or
demonstrate to obtain prior
permission from the Ministry of
Justice have proven ineffective
to address rallies, parades and
concerted mass movements on
the streets of Monrovia and its
environs, stated the release
from the Presidents office.

Having accurate numbers

"As we move into the stage of

going to be at the heart of this,"
Aylward said. "We are not

we definitely need to fix."
