Social Studies is the study of human society.

It involves studying different cultures, traditions,

government and politics, social interactions and

the in-depth look of different societies.

Social Studies includes learning about different

cultures and their contributions to the world.

It is an inter-disciplinary subject (it
incorporates more than one fields) including
Economics, Politics, Geography and History.

REQUIREMENTS TO DO
CSEC (CXC) SOCIAL STUDIES
In order to do Social Studies at the CXC (CSEC)

level, you should have a passing grade in Social

Studies at the Forms 1-3 levels.
You should also have a good command of the
English Language.
YOU SHOULD LIKE TO READ!!!
Reading the newspapers and keeping updated of
current affairs are very important if you would like
to do Social Studies in Form 4 & 5.

WHAT CXC SOCIAL STUDIES ENTAILS?

SCHOOL BASED ASSESSMENT (SBA):
You MUST do an individual project (SBA)
Project on any social problem juvenile
delinquency, teenage pregnancy,
academic underachievement, drug abuse,
unemployment, underdevelopment
poverty, etc.
The SBA is worth 20% (40 marks) of
your final grade.
