The Incas

By: Jessica, Adia, Colton

Intro
There are many different Inca religions, cultures, etc. The Incas are also known as
the lost tribe. Incas are very well known for their methods and how the handle
things. For example, they sacrificed many children for their gods. That will be
repeated later in the book because its really important and its a big part of
history.

Inca Religion
By Jessica Aaron
The Incas believed in many gods. In fact, they only followed one main god: his name was
Viracocha. He believed in the sun, the moon, and the stars. In addition, the moon was
his wife. When the Incas ran into trouble, they went to Viracocha. He solved all their
troubles, so that the Incas could live a stress-free life. They didnt exactly do that,
though. They had to worry about the Spaniards attacking them at any moment.
Furthermore, the Incas always had someone watching the walls at every moment. They
would swap positions throughout the day, so that the others could take a break every
once in a while. In Also, they lived in a pagan
religion . The Incas were always trying to fight for
freedom, so they had a decision to make. The
Spaniards finally came after them and so that is
when the Incas decided to attack back. They got
into a fight, and more than of the Incas didnt
survive. The Spaniards were so happy that the
Incas were deceased so that now they could
have freedom.

Ancient Gods the Incas Followed

By Adia Nevarez
The Incas followed multiple gods that might have even been more important than others, but
all of them had a good place in the Incas society. The Incas worshipped a pantheon of
nature gods and goddesses (enloehs.wcpss). Inti was the sun and the
highest god. Viracocha was the creator. Illapa was the weather/thunder
god, Pachamama was the Earth goddess A.K.A., Mother Earth. Mama
Cocha was the sea goddess and Mama Quilla was the moon goddess. Inti
and Viracocha were the two most important gods. They had at least four
main gods/goddesses. There were many important Incas besides just the
gods. Furthermore, the Incas main religion was the Pagan religion
(religiousbeliefs.com). Inti was considered to be omnipotent and the highest god. The
Incas believed that the members of royal families were direct descendants of the first
emperor, Manco Capac and his sister-wife, Mama Occlo Havco, children of Inti
(www.scns.com). A royal family would have special treatment for being descendants of gods.
They had at least 20 gods to be related to in some way.

The creator of the Incas is a mystery about to be
revealedViracocha was the creator of the Incan
empire and also was the first emperor. Well the
Incas think that he started it, but this is just a
theory. With the onset of the newfound belief in
Viracocha, the belief in other gods developed. The
man named Viracocha was a big believer in the sun
god, Inti. They had many other gods as well. For
instance, Mama Quilla was the goddess of the moon, while Manco Capac created the
Incas to civilize people and teach them skills. The skills taught by such a god included
farming, crafting, and people skills. In addition, they had to adapt to living with many
other people. Manco Capac was the main founder of the Incas. The Incas only started

Inca Conclusion
There are a pantheon of Incan gods that were beloved and worshipped by royal
families. There were many gods. Not all remembered very well like Inti the sun
god but worshipped just as much. The royal families were treated like gods
because they believed that they were descendants of gods. The gods gave the
Incas life but in order for that to happen the gods would take a life known as a
sacrifice.
