The concepts were introduced to the students and through guided group improv as well as discussion the concepts were met. I had the students draw different lines on piece of note card, and from there they traveled in the pathways that they created. As a group they followed, for a time, a pathway that I had created for them using different texture movements, it turned into a circle but from there I was able to guide them through using different texture ideas, as well as colors (the notecards they had received were all different colors) those colors inspired different emotions that they then portrayed through movement. 2.Was the material too difficult? Simple? Uninteresting? Directions not clear? Explain It was easy to get them moving, but through discussion I found it was hard for them to articulate why a movement portrayed an emotion or texture. I helped to guide them in the direction of understanding and soon they were able to explain to me the differences between the movement and what it had to say. 3. How was the Lesson challenging to the students? It was challenging because they have never been taught in this way. When I asked them to move like the color of their note card they were all extremely confused. I explained that nothing would be wrong, so long as it pertained to their color and either how it made them feel or what it represented to them. It was also challenging because they had to come up entirely with their own movements, while guided with the ideas of texture and color the movement was all their own and I think it let a few shine and caused a few others to feel uncertain. 4. What skills need additional practice? Today they were a little distracted. The curtain on the stage was open and I think that had something to do with it, but I would re-engaged them as soon as they drifted. 5. What students need particular attentionskill, social, emotion, etc.? Today was a much better day as far as group work. Initially, it was clear that a bully had been born and it worked in a negative way for everyone because she would bully, be bullied in return and the cycle would continue. I did my best to keep it under wraps, and after the first 10 minutes it stopped and everyone was able to work together. This one girl in particular still needs help with her social skills, but today she was working much better in an all girl group. It's something I need to keep focusing on because I think the more than she feels like she fits somewhere
the less she will be inclined to act out and the less likely she will be to bully because it's clear that it's a defense mechanism.
