Observation
For my observation I took the opportunity to visit my old Elementary school. Clearance
lobo Elementary, The class that I visited was a kindergarten class. The teacher was named
Susanne Rutherford, I did not have her for a teacher but she did teach in the same class that I
was taught in when I was in kindergarten. Not only did I get to observe the class room I got the
chance to do some activities with the children and get the hands one experience that I hoped I
would get.
The strokes and affirmations are given by showing the children what should be done I n
the classroom for example creating a journal to create positive self-esteem. As I sat in Mrs.
Rutherfords classroom I saw many pictures with different cultures, they were even working
and playing together. The classroom curriculum shows that there is no difference between
diverse cultures. The teacher tries to get the children to understand that all cultures are loving
and accepting to all. There was actually a conflict in the classroom with a couple of boys that
would not stay seated and quiet while story time was in session. So the teacher separated the
boys and they stayed seated and quiet. I think that it is an efficient way to handle a conflict in
the classroom. She prevents it by keeping a close eye on the students. The activity that the
teacher had in the classroom was group projects. She had set up four tables each had different

activities for the students to do. Each table would switch every twenty minutes. Give the
students enough time to color cut and paste and complete the rhyming words. She also had
computers to share with the children to team up and do worksheets on the internet.
In my interview I got the chance to not only interview Mrs. Susanne Rutherford
but Mrs. Kim Richardson, and Mrs. Lorri West as well. All answers in my interview process are
answered by all three teachers. I was so excited to have the honor to interview all three of the
wonderful teachers.
