To Whom It May Concern;

It is my pleasure to provide a reference for Katie Shirilla. As a student in my education courses, I have
found Katie to be a dedicated learner with a keen interest in the teaching profession. I am impressed by
Katies commitment to education and see great promise in the contributions she will make to the teaching
profession as a positive role model for young learners.
Katie has completed a wide array of education classes focusing on the diverse needs of young learners.
Katie excels in the classroom as evidenced by her strong academic record. Katie strives to not only know
course content, but more importantly she desires to understand how to effectively apply course learning to
meet the unique learning needs of young children.
Katie completed a number of field and clinical experiences in a variety of school and district settings. She
has experienced both rural and urban school environments with diverse learners of varying ages, abilities,
and needs. These experiences provided her with the opportunity to practice explicit instruction as well as a
mix of co-teaching designed to support the unique needs diverse learners in todays educational settings.
This combination of knowledge, skills, and experiences will undoubtedly enhance Katies effectiveness as a
future teacher.
In addition to her studies, Katie is an active member of several campus organizations and community
activities. She is a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta and Gamma Beta Phi, campus service organizations
and serves as the Treasurer of the Executive Board of Calliope, a campus wide literary journal. Katie also
serves as the Vice President of Intellectual Development for Alpha Chi Omega, a service sorority focusing
on domestic violence awareness. She has also served as a lifeguard and water swim instructor and worked
with the College for Kids summer enrichment program at Lakeland Community College. Katies strong

Katie has a number of strengths to offer the field of education. She is a caring and sincere person with a
solid work ethic. Katie is an organized, attentive individual who takes pride in her work and demonstrates a
true desire to do a quality job. She consistently displays a willingness and interest in learning that enhances
her success as an effective team member. Katie recognizes the value of continuous learning for both
teachers and students and will go that extra mile to make certain her students are successful both in and out
of her classroom.
Katie Shirilla will be a valuable asset to any employer. As a former public school administrator, I would not
hesitate to employ Katie for any teaching vacancy. There is no doubt that she will be an excellent teacher
and professional colleague. Please feel free to contact me if you need additional information or perspective
