Planning and Preparation


SMART Goal: I will teach the students how to utilize a reading app for their iPad.
Rationale
I chose this goal because my district went 1:1 iPads and I want to utilize the technology in my
classroom. I also want to be able to differentiate using technology.
Time Line
I will work on this goal in the fall of 2014.
Instructional Strategies
I will find a free a reading app for students to use on the iPad.
I will use the app to help differentiate in my classroom.

The Classroom Environment


SMART Goal: I will create a quiet reading corner in my classroom for students to read silently
in.
Rationale
I chose this goal because we do not have walls or doors in my school so finding a quiet area to
read in is sometimes hard to come by. Creating a real quiet area to read in will help students focus
without being distracted.
Time Line
I will work on this goal in the fall of 2014.

I will create a space in my classroom for a reading corner.
I will find furniture to use in the reading corner.
I will find cushions to use in the reading corner.

SMART Goal: I will find or create a grammar assessment for the fall of 2014.
Rationale
I choose this goal because we do not have a good grammar assessment in third grade. We are
going away from the current curriculum we use for grammar so I would like to find something we
could use and assess with.

I will work on this goal in the fall of 2014.

I will find a grammar series I can use in third grade.
I will formulate assessments based on the grammar series I find or use the ones the series gives
me.

Rationale
I chose this goal because I think its important to be on different committees to be active in my
school.
