Treatment
Blurb
Minutes. This is the five minute drama of two men whos
next 5 minutes of their lives are all about this girl. This
girl who they have no reason to protect or kill but after
receiving a call the next five minutes of their lives are
put on the line for her and they are willing to die to
accomplish their missions.
Storyline
Two men both receive a phone call each saying the name
and address of this girl. The first man called Brad has
the objective to protect her and the second man Max
has the mission to kill her. She is alone and has no clue
what is going on all she has been told is that she is
important to something so she waits. Both men set of
on their missions trying to get their fastest they bring
weapons they both race towards the finish line. Then
max arrives at the front of the house and brad at the
back door. Brad first goes upstairs after opening the
door, then max decides to do the same the two
apparently just missing each other but we see brad walk
through an open door and find the girl and then we see
max look to a closed door and after opening it he finds
the room empty until he sees brad in the close corner
pulling the trigger and him dropping to the floor. Brad
then steps over the body retrieves the girl from the
other room and leaves the building and once in the car
asks the girl whats next? Then the scene blacks out
into the credits.
Statement of intent
This production should be shown because it is a good
thriller it is tense and will further intrigue the audience.
If when shown it is met with positive feedback more

episodes may follow and bring more people to channel

Narrative Structures
What is narrative?
Narrative is the order the film runs in. linear narrative is when the
story runs from the beginning to middle to end. Non-linear
narrative is when the story for example in fight club starts at the
end then middle and then beginning as it explains the story line.

What is a linear narrative?

This is when the film runs simply going begging of the film
explaining the story to the middle showing the story to the end
finishing the story.

What is a non-linear narrative?

This is when the film doesnt start at the beginning but at the
end. This is when the director wants to keep the main storyline
question unanswered till the film end. So they start at the end to
get the audience into it but not understanding then the middle of
the story to show whats going on then they use the beginning at
the end of the film to explain to people whats actually going on.

What narrative structure does your final video have?

My film will have a linear narrative as it does not need to be
jumbled up to surprise the audience because of the way I am
filming it.

Split screen
First both characters are sat down max is sat down near a phone box,
brad is at home when his home phone goes off and so does the
telephone box near max. They both pick up to hear the same voice.
Xxxxx
Are you there? (both brad and max respond at the same time but cant
hear each other) .okay now then, theres a target weve been trying
to find for quite a while, the problem is there a lot of other people
trying to find this person so you need to get there as fast as possible
and if anyone else is there. Kill them as well. Ive already texted you
the details of the locationgood luck.
The phone goes dead both men put their phones back and then after a
second of reflection they get moving brad being around the corner from
there starts walking but max gets in a car to get there.
Brad reaches into his jacket pulls out a pistol checks the magazine then
cocks the weapon ready for what hes about to do and max while
driving reaches to the backseat lifts up the cushion then pulls out an
assault rifle and lays it on the front seat next to him.
Brad as he nears the house decides to go through the back entrance
just as he gets through the kitchen and into the living room a car pulls
up. Max shuts off the car grabs his rifle and readies it and then starts
walking straight up to the front door. Brad silently but swiftly heads
upstairs as he gets to the top he hears what can only be a small
explosion coming from the front door but he still heads into a bedroom
to find the girl.
Int. bedroom. Middle of the day. 21 north drive High Wycombe
BRAD
Whats your name?
OOOOO
Im Claire hall
Brad looking shocked as the girl looks so familiar and it clicked why
max was sent someone wanted to take out him and his sister at the
same time

BRAD
You may not remember me but im your older brother brad
CLAIRE
But! The people at the orphanage told me I had no family left!

BRAD
Well to be fair to them I have been away for a while in the army.
CLAIRE
But? You left me all alone for all these years?!?
BRAD
Well im her now so lets
Brad pauses as he hears something going on downstairs
BRAD
Stay here Claire and dont move
MAX
I know youre in here brad I knew youd be called for this job but the
reason they called me was because who the target actually is
Max stands still listening for movement but then moves off into the
kitchen away from the stairs, whilst brad searching still for the girl
opens the last door and can hear the faint sound of crying in the room.
Opens the rooms cupboard to find a little girl.

He walks out of the room and then silently down the stairs and as he
enters the living room he sees max standing over the body of some kid.
Max moves away from the body and can tell hes not alone in the room
anymore dives back in the kitchen.
Shooting scene between brad and max, brad hidden behind the
doorway to the stairs and max behind the kitchen doorway.
MAX
Bradhow about his we put our guns down and we fight this out like
men??

BRAD
As if I could trust you if I walk out there with no gun youll shoot me
straight away.
Then maxs assault rifle lands on the sofa next to brad. Then theres a
pause and brad does the same.
BRAD
Okay then max I hope youre ready for this
MAX
I remember last time it was me who walked away and you who was
unconscious in a pub?
BRAD
And do you forget the fact you brought 5 friends with you and you left
after breaking a bottle over my head once I had beaten up your last
man?
Without a response max sprints at brad initiating a vicious brawl.
Halfway through max pulls out a knife tries to stab brad but misses and
then brad takes it and throws it away.
Fight scene
Brad then finishes the fight after completely knocking out max and then
picks up his pistol and shoots him in the back of the head.
BRAD
Thats the end of that then.
He walks up the stairs to retrieve Claire and before entering the room
BRAD
Claire..? You still there? Its me brad
Claire walks out of the room after hearing everything that went on
downstairs with a shocked look on her face when she sees him and then
they walk back down the stairs and out through the front door after
brad retrieves his and maxs weapon and car keys.
They both get in the car brad puts the guns on the back seat and then
turns the ignition on.
Claire turns to brad
CLAIRE

So what now then?

Lighting
What is low-key lighting?
Low-key lighting is a style of lighting for photography, film or television. It is a necessary
element in creating a chiaroscuro effect. Traditional photographic lighting, three-point lighting
uses a key light, a fill light, and a back light for illumination.

What genres may use this?

It is used in cinematography and it tends to heighten the sense of
alienation felt by the viewer, hence is commonly used in film noir and
horror genres.

What is high-key lighting?

High-key lighting is a style of lighting for film, television, or photography that
aims to reduce the lighting ratio present in the scene. This was originally done
partly for technological reasons, since early film and television did not deal well
with high contrast ratios, but now is used to suggest an upbeat mood. It is often
used in sitcoms and comedies. High-key lighting is usually quite homogeneous
and free from dark shadows.

What genres may use this?

Sitcoms and comedies use this lighting as it creates a nicer light atmosphere to
accentuate the mood of the script/story.

What is ambient lighting?

Ambient lighting describes the main source of illumination for a room or space.
Typically, it will be the first light you turn on in a room. In the daylight hours,
ambient light comes through windows and skylights.
