If the insanity defense were abolished it would be replaced by a battery of tests. According to internet
resources many believe that the insanity plea should not be abolished as a legal defense. Although,
many are skeptical of the insanity pleas that take place in the courtroom that does not mean that the
mental state of the defendant has not been compromised. It also does not mean that these types of
pleas should not be taken as seriously as any other plea. Although it is harder to prove mental status in
some cases, that is not evident in all cases. Some insist that the insanity pleas should only be admissible
after a guilty verdict has been established through a separate trial.
