Hope Statement

As imperfect human beings, our hope relies in the Lords perfect plan. That it is
the Lords plan to work with imperfect people. That through His son, Jesus Christ, we
can use the gift of our body and our strengths to become powerful and consecrated tools
in his hands.

Hope is a word that people use in their everyday life. I hope you can come with
us tomorrow. She is hoping that everything will turn out ok. I was hoping someday
you could love me as I love you You are hoping for something that will never
come. They survived because they always had hope. The gospel has brought so much
hope and happiness to my life Hope is a Christlike attribute, a gift from God given to
men. As sons and daughters of our Heavenly Father, hope has become part of us. Those
who are believers, use hope in a more meaningful and heavenly manner. Wherefore,
whoso believeth in God might with surety hope for a better world (Ether 12:4).
Everybody uses the word hope to as an intentional or not intentional Christlike
character manifestation: I really hope you get better soon. Even the nonbelievers use
the term hope to express a desire or expectation: We are hoping to buy a house next
month.
At the beginning of the semester I recorded a 60 second video about What I do
Best. In this video I said that what I do best is missionary work. I came home from my
mission two months before the semester started, and since I was still trying to adjust to
normal life there was nothing else I could think of that I was good at. I felt as if I had last
my identity because I wasnt a full time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-Day Saints anymore. Even though I felt the Lords love and spirit in my life, I was

cut in a new and strange world where I did not know yet how to serve Him. At the end of
the video I say I hope there are other things I do well. In that I hope you can tell how
lost I was. If today I recorded another video, there would be more things to share about
what I do best, or at least strengths I did not know before that could become the best of
me in the future. Those are the things that this class has helped me to discover.
Communication is something that I never truly ponder about much. I knew what
the concept was, but to me it was more like a natural and common ability that humans
had. I thought about it as a common tool more than as a potential powerful tool. After
taking this class I have come to realize that our bodies and the abilities to express and
share emotions can be a tool in the Lords hands. Discovering my strengths was like
making a journey inside of me. I was not only able to pounder about how I can use my
strengths to help me in the future with my career, family, church callings etc. but to know
how I can serve the Lord everyday through communication. I was able to go from being a
confused, hopeless returned missionary, to a lifetime representative of Jesus Christ. I
started to see ways I can reach out to those in need through my strengths. For example,
Empathy is my number one, strongest strength. The ability to read other people emotions
and feel what they feel is something I always knew I could do. Before it was more like an
entertainment for me because I enjoy studying other people, but now I see my empathy
combined with the Spirit as a way to comfort or help others. This week I had a situation
where I was able to use these two powerful tolls to help a friend. After class I went to the
first floor thinking of how I want to help others. Right when I got out of the elevator I
saw a friend standing against the wall. I immediately felt that there was something wrong
because of the look on her face, so I went and asked her how she was doing. She said that

she was just super tired and that she would feel better after taking a nap. Even though we
only met a couple times and I dont know much about her life, I looked at her and said
no, you are having boy problems dont you? She looked at me surprised and said
yes! and immediately started to tell me how she felt and everything that was going on.
We had a good conversation and she was able to let all out and feel better. We shared
emotions and advice, and we became good friends right away. I felt very happy because
I knew that the Lord made sure our paths crossed when she most needed, and I was glad
to help her know that her Heavenly Father loves her and He is aware of what she needs. I
also felt loved because the Lord used my strength to bless somebody. Since I learned how
to communicate better and use communication in a productive way, I have been praying
that the Lord would use me in His service.
As I said in my hope statement, we rely our hope in the Lord. Believer or atheist,
we all hope to be somehow useful to make others happy, and to make life something
valuable. The truth is that hope without the knowledge of a living God will never be
completed. Life seems so much hopeful when you know that even you are not perfect the
Lord is still willing to use you in His service because He has also given us abilities and
strengths. Every gift he has giving us is to make us productive when we learn to use these
gifts in His heavenly manner. If not, life will never be completed, it will never make
sense. Im grateful for this class that taught a lost returned missionary to learn new ways
to serve the Lord. To appreciate the value of emotions, agency, words, crucial
conversations, body language, strengths, gifts To learn that the Lords greatest
creation is us, all of us, and that as His masterpiece I can reflect the light of Christ on
others and change lives forever.
