To Human Resources and Wired Communications at SEL,

I am interested in the Application Engineering position at Schweitzer Engineering

Laboratories. Given my area of study, experience, and capabilities, I would appreciate your
consideration for the position.

In my study of Computer Science at the University of Idaho, and through my own

time spent outside of the classroom, I have gained many of the qualifications that are listed
for the position. For classes, work, and hobby development, I have often ran virtual
machines to have a different or secure environment. This includes my Introduction to
Information Assurance class, in which we used virtual machines to perform and
demonstrate cyber-attacks and defenses, ending with myself and an employee of SEL
Trevor Marquis using a virtual network in our individual presentation to the class. This last
spring I competed in the Pacific Rim Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition, where a team of
other students and I were given a virtual network, consisting of Windows and Linux
systems, to defend and perform tasks on for two days, while a team of professionals
attacked us and the other teams. Through my work at ITS and FRAMES (listed below) I
have also maintained and developed for networks and servers, consisting of both Windows
and Linux systems.

I thank you for your time and the consideration of myself for this position. Below you
will find my resume.

Best Regards,
Ranger Adams
