Adolescence

1. Explains at least two physical developmental milestones that typically developing


children should attain during this period of development.
Physically during this time girls are developing breast, pubic hair, and they may
experience a growth spurt. Boys are experiencing testicular growth, voice changes, pubic
hair, and wet dreams (TCP).
2. Explains at least two language developmental milestones that typically developing
children should achieve in this period of development.
During this stage childrens vocabulary is vast, they know many, many words and their
vocabulary continues to expand rapidly. They are able to having meaningful
conversations and engage is debates. They are able to reason.
3. Explains at least two cognitive developmental milestones that typically developing
children should achieve in this period of development.
During my research I found that Piagets theory suggested that during this age children
become more scientific and logical, and are also able to observe others better as well. As
an adolescent emotionally they may go through changes such as moody behavior,
struggle with who they are, and they may also have some social stress.
4. Explains at least one sign that may signal atypical development during this period of
development.
During this age a sign of atypical behavior would be a child who is extremely withdrawn
from society. Children may go through some things emotionally during this time but if a
child is experiencing severe difficulty connecting with family and peers there could be
deeper issues that need to be addressed.
5. Describes at least one strategy that families can use to influence their childrens
learning and development during this period of development.
At this age I think families need to continue to show their child love and support. Always
ensure them that they can talk to you. Encourage them to read, listen to music, write, do
homework, join school organizations, play sports, etc.
6. Incorporates at least two images that relate to physical, language, or cognitive
development for this period of development to enhance the visual appeal of your fact
sheets.

7. Explains at least two social-emotional developmental milestones that typically


developing children should achieve in this period of development.
During this age children may become closer with friends and enjoy spending more time
with them. Children this age also becomes more interested in the opposite sex. Show
more concern about body image, looks, and clothes (CDC).
Explains at least two moral reasoning-self regulation developmental milestones that
typically developing children should achieve in this period of development.
Children may experience hormonal changes during this age.
