SAMC Chair Report to

Shines Board of Directors


11th December 2014.

SAMC last met on 1st November.

Jason Merrill became the link member between SAMC and the Youth
Council;

Work is ongoing with Choosing the Right Wheelchair For You leaflet.

A Motivation fact sheet asked for by a member - is being developed


by the Health team;

Work on benefit guidance leaflets including the timetable for changes is


being developed by Lynne Young (SDW) and Helen Robinson (SAMC).
It was noted that few appeals were coming through. The new Appeals
timetable was discussed. PIP changes were also discussed. Motability
have announced that if you lose your award you will not immediately
lose your car;

SAMC had a visit to the Health Hub. There was still equipment
outstanding. The group was asked if they would be involved in piloting
the appointments for the Hub. This is taking place Weds 17th
December.

National 40+ Conference in Bristol, in March 2015.

Gill Yaz gave a really interesting talk on the different types of spina
bifida and hydrocephalus.

Martine Austin gave a talk on pregnancy planning and folic acid and
how much to take in different situations and when to start taking it:

The group looked a draft copy of What to look for / at when moving
house.

We are hoping to co opt Sue Skinner onto SAMC.

The next meeting is on Saturday 31st January 2015.
