- Student will recognize, and name each planet in the
solar system in order from the sun and label them
on their diagram.
- Student will be assigned a specific planet, and
research their planet, and present the information
to the class.
- Student will be able to differentiate between
Terrestrial, Jovian, and Dwarf planets, and label
them on their diagram.
- Student will present their diagram in front of their
peers.

- Students will be able to identify, and name each
planet in the Solar System.
- Students will be able to categorize each planet into
the Terrestrial, Jovian, and dwarf planets.
- Students will be able to illustrate and understand
each planets size in relation to the Earth.
- Students will be able to present and understand the
information that they researched about their
assigned planet.
Computer / internet research
- Construction paper
- Poster board
- Scissors
- Markers
- Glue
- Drawing compass
1. Each student will use in class discussions, as
well as individual internet research in order to
make a two-dimensional planetarium diagram.
2. Each student will use the drawing compass to
create the different sizes of the planets on
construction paper. Students will then cut them
out and place them on their poster board in
order from the sun.
3. Students will use markers to label each planet,
as well as categorize each of the planets from
Terrestrial, Jovian, and Dwarf planets.
4. Students will present their diagrams to the
class as well as the information each student
researched about their assigned planet.

Assessment:

The teacher will take notes while each student is


presenting their planetarium.
Make sure students followed guidelines for their
planetarium by properly labeling and categorizing
of each planet.
Teacher will assess if each student properly
researched their assigned planet with accurate
information.
Teacher will assess if students fully received
understanding of the material. For students who
are struggling with certain concepts, the teacher
will discuss the activity with the students and send
home extra practice activities that will help them
further understand the material.
