Riding a vehicle as a passenger
zu ch (The use of zu is often expressed in English as take.)
zu d ti (Take the subway)
zu gng jio ch (Take the bus)
To indicate the number of stops you ride on a bus or train:
zu+ number + zhn (stop)
zu zhn (ride for three stops)
(Take the subway and ride for four stops. )
ling (Take the bus and ride for two stops. )
To ask how many stops to take a bus or train, say:
zu zhn? How many stops do I go?
To say that you are taking a form of transportation to a location, state the means of
transportation before the action of going, coming or returning:
means of transportation + // location
Or means of transportation + location /
. (You can take the subway to the theater. )
. (They are coming to China by plane. )
. (We took the bus home.)
Get on/off the vehicle
ch (get on) ch get off
(Get on the plane.)
(Get off the ship. )
Use and in time expression:
Eg:
last month
next month
last week
next week
* last year
* next year
Doing an action at a place
+ location+ V
Eg:
. (at Pattee Transit Center get off the bus.)
pio . (You can buy ticket at subway station.)
Indicating sequence
+ Verb1, + Verb2 (first do, then do)
and are adverbs and can only occur before a verb phrase. They never occur
before a noun.
First cross the street, then go north.
