Life Insurance
Our fellow worker Albeiro de Jesus Gomez Arredondo transfer truck driver at the
Pereira La victoria dual highway project, near to the city of Cartago, passed away
in March this year. Jesus had acquired the Life Insurance in which his mother, Olga
Gmez, was his beneciary. She told us the following:
Do you know how long your son worked in Conalvias and what did he do?
My son worked for this company for about 3 years and his last position was driver.
When did you nd out about the life policy?
My son told me some months ago that the company was going to give him a life
insurance and he was going to register me as his beneciary.
Now that the Insurance Company has given its approval to you as the
beneciary of your son, could you tell us whether this benet has been
useful in your current situation?
It has indeed. Thank God for this allowance because my son was the one who
provided for us. We were three with my daughter and she suffers epilepsy and
needs special medication - which can be expensive - and he used to buy her
medication. Therefore, this help we have received through Conalvias has been
essential and very important for us and I am thankful for that.
What is your opinion about this benet that Conalvias granted to your son?
I think it is important to have a life insurance, that it would be ideal if everyone could
have one.
Conalvias is a great company. My son used to say that repeatedly and he was
happy because you think about your employees and this nancial and emotional
support you have provided us has been fundamental for my family.
What would you like to say to us, the company members, about this benet?
That it is real, thanks to Conalvias.
Is there anything that you would like to add?
Yes. That I and my daughter are thankful and we want to thank Conalvias for
having given my son the opportunity to work for you and granted him this life
insurance.

The Town Hall of Cali awarded to Conalvas Construcciones the Public Tender for the construction of the Intersection Work on
Avenida Ciudad de Cali and Carrera Primera, on August 22, 2014. This is the 8th Megaobra awarded to Conalvias
Construcciones in the capital city of Valle.
The contract amounts to 29 thousand million Colombian pesos and has a deadline of 13 months, starting from the signing of the
commencement minutes for the pre-construction stage.
The project calls for the construction of two 90m long, grade-separated bridges over a roundabout, the refurbishment of utilities
networks, signaling, road demarcation and installation of trafc lights in addition to improvements in landscape and urbanism in
this zone.
We want to congratulate all the departments in the company that did their bit to attain this important achievement, which
reconrms that Conalvias is the developer of the most important civil work projects in the city of Cali.
Starting November and aiming at improving the internal processes and assembling
the joint production and supply operations of construction materials together, Patria
and Agremezclas assigned their operations to a new business line for Conalvias
Construcciones, focused on the production of petrous materials and asphalt mix.
Engineer Juan David Jaramillo, new Production Manager for these plants, tells us
about what this change consists of:
We currently have the production plant in Mosquera, Cundinamarca, which supplies
petrous materials from the exploitation of rocks in the pit. This material is then turned
into small stones and other pit run used as gravel and to be used in the rst
construction stage of the Eldorado Airport Taxiways project in Bogota. It is expected
that after a year of uninterrupted operation, this plant will produce asphalt mix with
high levels of quality and in this way; the products will also be marketed to third
parties.
On the other hand, the Puerto Tejada plant, located in the department of Cauca,
supplies asphalt mix for the Aguadulce project in the city of Buenaventura. Its
production is also aimed at supplying Conalvias' projects in the south of the country
but it also expects to expand its marketing to potential clients that may be interested.

The project moves forward and has reached a completion percentage of 39%, equivalent to $55,736 million pesos. After nishing
milestone 1 - the completion of the industrial route - we moved forward with construction work of the nal access route, which started on
June 17th, 2014.
Milestone 2 was successfully completed on August 22nd, 2014. It involved the installation of MDC-1 mix asphalt from Km 0+220 to
4+650. To the present time, the installation of sub-base and base material and asphalt mix are nished. Likewise, we move forward with
excavations and installation of embankments, metal barriers, vertical signage and improvements along the road so as to complete the
total width of the road.
As part of the social activities performed in the project, we carried out the Entrepreneurship Cycle with women relatives of our workers
specically in the communities of Villa Estela and La Brea. The training sessions focused at empowering women with training tools that
enable them to structure or otherwise strengthen their business ideas, contributing not only to their implementation, but also to an
increase of earnings and an improvement of the quality of life of their families. It also creates trust from and towards entrepreneurship,
taking into consideration the impact brought by the construction of the Aguadulce Port access route.

With the execution of maintenance and refurbishment work along Duitama La Palmera
and Sogamoso El Crucero corridors, we have provided users road infrastructure with
remarkable transportation conditions. This has also enabled them access different
production and consumption hubs as reected in shorter journey times, lower vehicle costs,
less environmental pollution, a decrease in the accident rates and more comfort for users in
the inuence area and the community in general.
To the present time, we have worked on a total of 63km of asphalt layer, drainage works,
retaining walls and road safety - for a cumulative work progress of 91% and a cumulative
investment of $86,107 million pesos, representing 89% of invoicing according to the
investment schedule agreed to with the client.
For the last term of 2014, the resources for complementary work in the Pramo de Guina
sector PR50+200 to PR56+800 will be invested with activities such as granular layer and
asphalt layer installation, drainage, retaining walls and road safety. In addition, some
retaining walls and drainage works will be carried out in those places authorized by the client
and where the relevant land management procedures were completed by the audit area.
12
With the implementation in March of the contract entered into with the Civil Aeronautics, which calls for the construction of the
Complementary System of Taxiways along the west side of Eldorado International Airport - Phase I, we can see work progress with
excavation activities, foundations in small stones and pre-load activities, which enable to carry out tests on the capacity of the base
material. In this way, we move ahead with the activities of the rst milestone, which comprises the taxiway parallel to the MIKE ramp - that
will connect the new aircraft maintenance zone - and the expansion of the second UNIFORM taxiway.
In addition, a number of training, prevention and health activities have been carried out. Training sessions for worksite employees have
been developed on a permanent basis to enforce industrial safety standards that apply to this type of work. Last but not least, the project
took active part in the Secretariat of the District's drill that took place in the capital city of the republic last October 16th.
13
The activities carried out in the maintenance stage are the result of the trips with the technical area of the project and the Institute or Urban
Development (IDU), in which any alerts are registered on checklists and are addressed within the response times set out in the contract.
The works executed in the last months correspond to replacement of cobblestone and slabs, repair of bands and curbs and scrub
clearance, urban furniture and bridge washing or painting, tree maintenance and snags replacement, with the support of Environmental
Engineers, aiming at recovering green areas as the main purpose of the landscaping design.
In the course of time and with the use of the main avenue that connects the east to the west of the city - highly trafcked by the
Transmilenio mass transportation system, we have performed repairs on chipped slabs, joints or ssure sealing, cleaning and
maintenance of vertical and horizontal signage, replacement of reective studs, to name a few, thus contributing to the continuous
improvement of Calle 26.

15
Last September 15th, we delivered the sub-stage 7 milestone - the dam elevation of 886.30 - with which the nal backll height is
completed. In November, we began the concrete dam face work, another important challenge in this construction stage.
The head canal to be built along the access route between Bucaramanga - Matanza is now suspended in the Shalom - Bosconia leg, as
there is still a pending approval and because of the requirements made by environmental authorities to change the aligning to run through
the Zaragoza canal.
As part of the social and environmental undertakings, we have carried out a number of training and other activities of the like for our
worksite staff, such as ve days of training for Safe Working at Heights, involving both theoretical and practical sessions with the support
of the SENA and enabling 258 workers to become certied through this training agreement.
Regarding drills and response actions in the event of casualties, an oil spill drill took place at the EDS on October 11th this year, where a
scenario of oil spill into sedimentation pools of the industrial water treatment scenario was simulated. The timely response of the
emergency team prevented the trace to expand, thus avoiding direct pollution of the Tona river.
16
The work carried out along this highway is currently one of the most
important and of more impact for the country, as it connects Panama with
North America, thus improving land transportation with Costa Rica.
The project has been divided into ve legs. Leg IV corresponds to 40 km
of road between the towns of San Juan and La Pita, in the province of
Chiriqui and 8 new additional car bridges will be built. They are already in
the foundation installation stage and the beam and abutments
production, as well as other sub-structural elements, has begun.
Currently, the most important activities that are being developed are the
following: studies and designs along 40km of road, excavation and
backll, drainage construction and refurbishment, geotextile laying and
base layer installation along the project site.
We expect that in less than three years from now, there will be a highway
that will speed up trafc from the center to the southeast of the country
and viceversa, which will reafrm Conalvias' commitment to the progress
and the opening of new opportunities for Panama.
17
To the present time, a work completion percentage of 60.35% has been reached, with periodic preservation work along legs I, II and IV, in
addition to Cascas crossing, for a total length of 19,060 Km.
Likewise, periodic maintenance work has been carried out involving canal cleaning, timber work replacement, laminated concrete
refurbishment, etc. in 37 structures - comprising 17 bridges and 19 pontoons. Routine preservation along the road until the Chicama - Dv.
Sausal-Cascas junction leg is also underway, spanning along 59.547 Km, and on September 29th works also began all the way until
Chilete - Contumaza leg.
18
19
The work has reached a completion rate of almost 69% and we continue to work on earthmoving, bridge construction and paving
structure, as well as on refurbishment activities. Road paving will reach Km 42, except for the critical areas that require solutions not
initially contemplated in the project.
The aggregate exploitation process moves forward at a good pace, despite the early start of the rainy season. Therefore, additional
employees are working in three work fronts to speed up progress and avoid as much as possible the prejudicial effects of the rainy season
that starts in December until January.

Construction work completed and adjustments made to the new dike design in Phase II
Per
During the last days, the construction work of the new sediment dike Phase 2 executed by Conalvias Construcciones - Peru branch, was completed in the
region of La Libertad for the Barrick Misquichilca mining company.
The completed work included carrying out the necessary adjustments on the
new sediment basin design, ensuring an hydraulic capacity of 100,000 mts2,
involving dike earthmoving and upstream face sealing, reservoir inner slopes
stabilization and sealing, underground drainage system installation along the
reservoir bottom and sub-horizontal drainage along the left side of the
reservoir stretching along 12 mts and in an angle of 5 degrees, together with
the emergency ow management system and in addition to the installation of
the geo-technical monitoring instrumentation required.
Work was developed in full compliance with the client requirements and within
deadlines, through the implementation of high safety, environmental and
quality standards. This one has become another excellent work developed by
Conalvias in the Andean country, showing that good works speak for
themselves.

A new work that will improve transportation in the center of the country
Per
This new project for Conalvias in Peru calls for the improvement, refurbishment and preservation per service levels of the Lima-CantaHuallay-Dv. Cochamarca road corridor, in order to enhance the connectivity and circulation in this zone of the country.
The highway that will serve for the construction of this road corridor is located in the heart of the country, in the departments of Lima, Junin
and Pasco and belongs to the PE-20A route of the National Road Network. The main leg No. 2, spanning along 96.108 Km and
connecting Canta with Huayllay, will be where improvement and refurbishment work will be executed, at an elevation between 2,800 and
4,680 masl along a rolling surface that is fully paved.
The planned deadline for the work total execution is 8 years, distributed in a complete work plan and technical studies underway from the
date of contract commencement, last September 30th.
22
The work encompasses paving of the rst 2,8 Km of leg I, which will close a
circuit around Moquegua's grassy plains used for agriculture while fostering
well-being and appropriate road conditions for the inhabitants of this zone.
Likewise, Conalvias has undertaken to hire more than 80% of unskilled labor
from the local people from the project start date and so it has done to the
present time, with a direct hiring percentage of 100% and a skilled labor
percentage of 77%, reaching a total weighted average near to 94% of local
labor hiring.
The total work comprises two milestones that will be executed in an
estimated completion period of one year. The project should be completed in
June 2015. Regarding the rst milestone, 100% of paving along the rst 2,8
km should be delivered on December 12th this year and we are currently in
normal progress rates regarding this matter, thus reaching a completion of
85% on drainage work and 90% of embankment expansion.
According to the work schedule, work included in milestone 2 should be
completed by June 30th, 2015, with the concept of maintaining a minimum
percentage of hiring employees from outside by hiring local labor required for
the execution of this project.

servicios pblicos subterrneos y drenaje.
asfalto, sealizacin, iluminacin, etc.

DANEIDA NOVOA
For me, it was at large an enriching experience, full of mixed emotions. I can barely explain how it is like facing this stark
reality and the sad and embarrassing deterioration of our society, seeing how innocent children pay the price. But, on the
other hand, I felt content that there are always good people, no matter how terrible the situation may seem to be, there are
always people willing to help heroically, from their hearts. I want people to know this is a Foundation worth the time,
children in this home are happy; they grow in a healthy, respectful environment where they are taught to be supportive
and friendly to each other. These kids have a good prospect of a future; they can overcome their pains and emotional
scars and contribute to the society. I would like to extend the invitation to you to support them, they really need us. This is
a great initiative of Conalvias. God bless you for this excellent work.
