2. The table below represents the unit characteristics and load pattern for a five-unit, four-time-period
problem. Each time period is 2 hours long. The input-output characteristics are approximated by a
straight line from min to max generation, so that the incremental heat rate is constant. Unit noload and start-up costs are given in terms of heat energy requirements.

Find the optimum unit commitment schedules covering the 8-hour period for the following conditions
using Dynamic Programming.
a. Ignore min/max down and up times
b. Consider up and down times
