1.1

Packing

Theequipmentispackedatthefactory,andsealedmoistureabsorbingbagsareinserted.

1.2 Transportation

Theequipmentispreparedforpublictransportation.Thecargomustbekeptdryduring
transportation,inaccordancewithETS30001912,Class2.3.

Itisrecommendedtotransporttheequipmenttotheinstallationsiteinitsoriginal
packingcase.

Ifintermediatestorageisrequired,thepackedequipmentmustbestoredindryandcool
conditionsandoutofdirectsunlight,inaccordancewithETS30001911,Class1.2.

Checkthepackinglists,andensurethatthecorrectpartnumbersandquantitiesofcomponentsarrived.

(UnitNumber1)alwaysservingasthemainunit.

SpaceDiversityisacommonwaytonegatetheeffectsoffadingcausedbymultipathphenomena.By
placingtwoseparateantennasatasufficientdistancefromoneanother,itisstatisticallylikelythatif
oneantennasuffersfromfadingcausedbysignalreflection,theotherantennawillcontinuetoreceivea
viablesignal.
EvoXPANDIP+offersSpaceDiversitybymeansofBasebandSwitching(BBS).EachIFUreceivesa
separatesignalfromaseparateantenna.EachIFUcompareseachofthereceivedsignals,andenables
thebitstreamcomingfromthereceiverwiththebestsignal.Switchoveriserrorless(hitlessswitching).
ForBBSSpaceDiversity,theantennasmustbeseparatedbyapproximately10to20meters.BBSSpace
DiversityisfullysupportedbytheODUSP.

anygiventime,onepairisactiveandtheotherisstandby.TheactiveIFUstransmittothelineandradio,

A2+2schemeisonlypossiblebetweenunitsinthemainnodalenclosure.Extensionnodalenclosures
(slots3through6)cannotbeusedina2+2configuration.

CrossPolarizationInterferenceCanceller(XPIC)isafeaturethatenablestworadiocarrierstousethe
samefrequencywithapolarityseparationbetweenthem.Sincetheywillneverbecompletely
orthogonal,somesignalcancelationisrequired.
Inaddition,XPICincludesanautomaticrecoverymechanismthatensuresthatifonecarrierfails,ora
falsesignalisreceived,thematecarrierwillnotbeaffected.Thismechanismalsoassuresthatwhenthe
failureisclearedbothcarrierswillbeoperational.
XPICcanbeusedina2+0or2+2configuration.XPICcanbe,butdoesnothavetobe,usedin
conjunctionwithMultiChannelABC.RefertoMultiRadioInstallationonpage24.

2.13.1 Conditions for XPIC


XPICisachievedusingtwoIFUsinsertedinamainnodalenclosure.OneIFUisusedforthehorizontal
polarizationandtheotherisusedfortheverticalpolarization.

XPICIFUscanbeplacedinsideamainnodeorextensionnodeinanyofthefollowingslots:1and2(main
node),3and4(extensionnode),and5and6(secondextensionnode).Slot1isthebottomslotinthe
mainnode.Thedataofeachpolarizationismarkedbyadifferentvalue,sothemodemcannotlockon
thesignalofthematepolarization.
TheantennasshouldbealignedinordertoachievethehighestXPI(inabsolutevalue)during
installation,andnolessthan25dB.
ForproperXPICoperation,anIFcableconnectedtoanIFUinanXPICpairshoulddiffernomorethan
10minlengthfromtheothercableinthepair.
WheninstallinganXPICsystem,eachIFUandeachODUmustbethesamehardwaretype.Inaddition,
eachIFUonbothsidesofthelinkmustbesettothesamefrequency.Anappropriatealarmisraisedif
theserequirementsarenotmet.
InordertoactivateXPIC,anXPICscriptshouldbeselectedduringinitialconfiguration.Thesamescript
mustbeusedinalltheIFUsonbothsidesofthelink.

betweenthetwochannelsbasedonthecurrentrateofeachchannel.
MultiChannelABCcanbeusedin2+0and2+2configurations.Ina2+0MultiChannelABC
configuration,theIFUsperforminmasterandslavemodeinwhicheachMultiChannelABCchannelcan
carryupto500Mbps,resultinginatotal1Gbpscapacity.
BecausetheMultiRadiointerfaceusesthenodalbackplane,anodalconfigurationisrequiredforMulti
