Managed and oversaw projects, staff (up to sixteen employees and contractors) and external outreach.
Led the development of homeland security mission strategies, futures analyses and analytic strategic
studies. Delivered project briefings to senior leadership. Led strategy seminars for officials from across
the federal government. Managed a six-month strategy development project for surface transportation
security. Managed a nine-month research project to characterize the homeland security strategic
environment, including extensive primary- and secondary-source research and outside expert interviews
on trends across the categories of society, technology, economy, environment and politics.

Special Assistant to the Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources
Advised Deputy Secretary Jacob J. Lew on policy, management and resource issues within portfolio of
security issues, including political-military affairs, security assistance, counterterrorism, non-proliferation,
counter-narcotics and cyber security. Prepared the Deputy Secretary and other senior officials for
speeches, policy decisions and meetings. Coordinated and supported special initiatives, including a
security and justice sector assistance funding authority and unified national security budget. Contributed
to drafting and interagency coordination of the Quadrennial Diplomacy and Development Review.

Presidential Management Fellow in the Office of Policy/Strategic Plans
Member of small team responsible for leading the Quadrennial Homeland Security Review (QHSR) and
for drafting the QHSR final report. Led six-month research effort to build analytic doctrine for
homeland security strategy development and futures analysis. Led effort to conceptualize a Department
of Homeland Security (DHS) strategic management system. Wrote numerous homeland security
strategic studies. Staff-lead for interagency review of 2009 National Security Strategy.

Program Director
Developed and directed six-month training and mentorship program for individuals entering national
security positions in the executive branch. Built curriculum on the U.S. national security system, innerworkings of executive branch agencies, and practical skills for working in government.
