Gladiator Helmet

The perfect accessory for your toddling Trojan. These helmets can be made using thin card such as a manila folder which can be
easily cut with scissors. For a stronger helmet, use card from a cardboard box. Box card needs to be cut with a craft knife (by an
adult!).
You will need:
cardboard boxes
craft knife
stapler
silver acrylic paint
red card

Method
1. Cut a strip of box card about 6cm wide and long
enough to fit around the head. Measure the strip to fit
just above the eyebrows and staple.

2.

Add another strip from the front to the back of the

headband.

3.

See the shapes template (below) for a guide on how to

draw the helmet pieces onto the cardboard.

4.

Use the knife to cut out the pieces.

5.

Staple the pieces to the helmet frame.

6.

Paint the helmet with the silver acrylic.

7.

If you wish to add a crest to your helmet, take a piece

of red card about 14cm wide. Make a fold along the
long side 6cm in from the edge. Repeat on the other
side. This will leave you with a seam down the centre
to stick to the helmet frame.

8.

Cut strips to the fold line on both sides.

9.

Stick or staple the crest down the centre cardboard

strip of the helmet.
