Method Statement on the Cementitious Grout Repair for

Defective Concrete at Pilecap

Introduction
Sections of Pilecap surfaces were noted to exhibit some surface defects.
This method of statement details the procedure to reinstate defective
concrete and enhance concrete structure durability by the application of
non-shrink cementitious grout using Sika 215.

Scope of works
a)

Identify the loose concrete and honeycombs areas of the


defective areas.

b)

The affected defective area is cleaned, brushed, hammered or


chiseled to remove all the loose concrete and small particles.

c)

Hack off all the loose concrete, until sound, solid concrete is
reached.

d)

All the concrete dust that left over is then washed away with
pressurized water or blown away using compressed air.

e)

Concrete substrate should be clean (free from oil, grease) and


sound and in a saturated damp condition prior to any application.

f)

Mix the non shrink cementitious grout slurry into a pourable


consistency.

g)

Using a masoning trowel, a layer of the non shrinkage grout is


then applied onto the surface of the affected areas.

h)

Level the surface to the required, shape and finishing. The


affected area shall be brushed / trowelled smooth
