emphasis on classifications, uses, routes or administration, dosages, interactions,
incompatibilities, and side effects. Emphasizes the current 50 most commonly prescribed drugs.

Cell Phone Usage in Class

You are to leave your cell phone in your purse, turned to silent. IF there is a situation
that necessitates the need to have your cell available during class, please discuss with the
instructor prior to the start of class.
EMERGENCY CALLS: You are to take the call outside of the classroom, away from
any classroom door.

ATTENDANCE POLICY

Students who miss a class session are responsible for getting their-in-class work
completed before the next class session. The instructor is not responsible to see that you
are caught up before proceeding with the next lesson. Attendance is important and
students are encouraged to miss as few classes as possible.
If a student misses more than three (3) classes, 5 points will be deducted per each absence
from the final grade
TARDY : Being tardy will count as an absence. (Late 15 min or more)

If a student misses more than 3 classes in a row without discussing this with the instructor, an
attendance report will be filed. If the student is unable to continue in the class the student is
responsible for completing a Change of enrollment withdraw/drop form. If this is not completed
this could result in a failure for the course.

Evaluation of student progress is continuous, utilizing quizzes, written assignments, exams and
demonstration of competencies.

Quizzes will be averaged with graded assignments and will count as 1 test score. You
may drop the lowest quiz score.
Homework: There is assigned homework that is to be completed in McGraw-Hill
Connect. This is required. Must have the access code/card that came with your textbook
purchase. If an access card did not come with your textbook, you will need to purchase
the access code from either the campus bookstore or directly from McGraw-Hill.
Homework is averaged and counts as a quiz grade.

In addition to in class materials, you will also have materials and assignments that will be
submitted/ accessed through Blackboard.
Quizzes are given on a weekly basis. You will have drug quizzes on Mondays and
Abbreviations quizzes on Wednesday UNLESS otherwise stated on the course
schedule/calendar.

Graded Assignments: This is a 16-week course and sufficient time is allowed for all
assignments. Late assignments will not be accepted. If you have a SERIOUS problem
that keeps you from submitting assignments on time, please contact the instructor
immediately. The instructor will determine if the seriousness of your problem warrants an
exception to the late assignment rule. Assignments submitted late will be assessed a
minimum of a 10% grade penalty per day late, regardless of the reason
Exceptions will NOT be considered if you do not contact the instructor during the week
that the assignment is originally due. Late assignments will NOT be graded unless you
have received prior approval.

Exams: It is your responsibility to schedule for any missed exams. If you have a
SERIOUS problem that keeps you from taking the exam on time, please contact the
instructor immediately. You must take the exam within one week of the scheduled test
date. You may be assessed a 10 point deduction for taking the exam late. There is no
re-testing of exams. Due to the content of this class ALL exams MUST be taken in order
to remain in the class

If you fail to contact the instructor PRIOR to the exam date /or class time BEFORE the
exam is given, you may receive a zero grade for the exam OR a 20% (20 points)
deduction on the exam.

If you miss more than one exam, it is possible that you will be recommended to drop
the class.

EXCEPTION the only exam that can be re-taken is the Drug Conversion exam. As
noted previously you must pass this exam with a 79% or better to pass this class. You
will be allowed to re-take this exam ONE time.

The Syllabus and Course Calendar are two important tools to help students understand the
course, student and instructor expectations, and deadlines. Both documents can be found under in
the course within Blackboard.
Students are required to submit work on time for a chance to receive credit. Deadlines for each
week/assignment are summarized on the course calendar. Students should check the calendar
frequently for deadlines and to be aware of what to expect next. Deadlines are subject to change.
ONLINE INTERNET ASSIGNMENTS: Students are responsible for timely assignment
submission. Should a computer system or network go down, students must still turn in work in a
timely manner. Dont wait until the last minute. Plan ahead by seeking alternative means for
submitting work before needed. Local libraries and all Ivy Tech Community College campuses
can serve as alternative resources. Contact the closest/most convenient campus or other public
lab for schedules and Internet availability. Not having access to the required software on a home
or work computer is not a legitimate excuse for turning in homework late.
Attendance Policy Dont Get Dropped from Class!
LAST DAY TO DROP FOR 100% REFUND: 9-5-2014
While it is important to be timely and on-schedule throughout any course, students need to be
aware of an important college policy. Ivy Tech performs administrative drops for students who
do not attend class early in the semester. Attendance in an online course is determined by
whether a student has submitted work or not. Assignments may actually be due on another day
(see course calendar), but students need to turn in something worth points before the NSW
deadline in order to avoid being dropped for non-attendance.
