Introduction
In order to get a good position in the future, I should identify what job that will suit me according to my
studies. Therefore, I had an interview with my tutor whom is Mr. Jalil Ebrahim as he has worked in the
Logistics field before joining Bahrain Polytechnic. This report is going to elucidate an interview, and it is
going to provide a research about the job and an analysis of both the interview and the research.
Findings
Interview
I had a meeting with Mr. Jalil Ebrahim, the logistics tutor last week in his office at Bahrain Polytechnic
campus. In this interview I have asked Mr. Jalil some questions about the job that is going to help me in the
foreseeable future. The following paragraphs are going to be some of the questions that I have asked him
along with his answers:

Research
The head of operation is responsible of supervising the daily cargo operation of the airport (Wagner, 2014),
minimize baggage mishandling by making sure that the baggage and passenger arrive together,
continuously improve operational performance (airport services manager, 2012) in addition, other
responsibilities are, distribute the cargo in case of no space available, calculate the load weight of the cargo
before departure, solve the problems and making decisions, inspect equipments and buy new equipments
if needed and identify the needed of training for the staff (cargo operations manager carrer,n.d).
To be a head of cargo operation in any airport or airlines you should have a logistics degree, an up dated IT
skills, special load handling certificate, dangerous goods certificates and live animal handling. Those
qualifications are similar to most airports but some airports may have a few different requirements
(Emirates sky cargo , 2014 ). Furthermore, air cargo transport is estimated to be around 35% of the world
trade, so it is very important to have a strict rules and a very qualified people to ensure the flow of the
operations (IATA, 2014).
What did you learned about the job, the required competencies?
I learned from the interview and the research Ive done that to reach this position I should work hard and I
should be patient, because it is difficult and impossible to obtain this position since the beginning of joining
the company. In addition, this interview encouraged me to finish my degree and to get extra certificates
that are related to logistics sector, because those certificates will help me a lot to reach my dream job. For
example, when I was working in TOYOTA service center as a receptionist, I always wanted to be a service
advisor as I was very interested in car inspections, when my manager saw my interest he registered me in a
workshops to know a basic things about cars, after that he allowed me to work with my colleagues as
service advisor trainee. In other words, it is not easy to get the position that you want in the beginning of
your career.
Analysis
After the interview and the research I found that the answers that Mr. Jalil gave me about the job are
similar to the research that I have done. In other words, the required certificate, skills and responsibilities
are almost the same in every airport as I mentioned above. In addition, the reason of having the same of
responsibilities is that the International Air Transport Association (IATA) is responsible to run a different
programs such as: safety, security, cargo, airline distribution, passenger, operations, infrastructure and
environment where as 240 airlines is a member in IATA which is estimated to be around 84% of the air
traffic, therefore, IATA established the rules and the requirement (IATA, 2014).
Conclusion
To conclude, this report elucidate an interview about a job that I may get in the future, also a research and
analysis have been done to identify the requirements for this job. In addition, I would like to thank Mr. Jalil
for sharing his experience that showed me one of the most superior jobs in logistics and to encourage me
to do my best to be one of the high qualified people in this sector.
