The goal of this project is experimentation, being open to new ideas, REVIEWING and sharing
techniques learned AND, MOST IMPORTANTLY:
-to work collaboratively and not hold on too tightly to our own artwork.
HOW IT WORKS:
GETTING STARTED
CREATING YOUR ORIGINAL IMAGE:
1. On the Internet, find the following images: (20 minutes MAX!)
-A background image. It should be a setting/location/place. Wallpaper size resolution/size.
-an image of a person/people
-an image of an animal
-other object.
PUT THEM ALL IN A FOLDER CALLED SWAP
2. Start with a new document sized 1600x1200.
3. Open all images as layers.
4. Put the setting/location image on the bottom.
5. Use ANY skills that you have learned so far in GIMP to create a scene.
NO RULES OTHER THAN SCHOOL APPROPRIATE AND IT HAS TO BE FINISHED BY THE END OF
THE PERIOD! BE CREATIVE!! HAVE FUN.
THE SWAP:
7. Send your image to the person next to you in your group. (As a group, you will have to decide
the order of the rotation so that everyone is included and time is shared equitably)
8. When you get the image sent to you (via email or with flash drive be SURE TO DELETE IT OFF
OF FLASH DRIVE SO THAT YOUR CHANGES WILL BE THERE), MAKE THREE CHANGES. You can
change anything. Colors, sizes, location, delete things, duplicate things. AGAIN, BE CREATIVE
AND HAVE FUN. You have 10 minutes.
9. After you have made the changes AND/OR the time is up, save (still a GIMP file) and send to
the next person.
10. Continue rotating until everyone in the group has altered the image.
BACK TO YOU:
11. Once everyone has had their turn altering the image, it gets returned to you.
12. Now, YOU make 3 final changes.
13. Export as PNG
14. Post to your website
15. Complete
