READING: The students will learn about text features, points of view,
and review elements of fiction
~point of view, character, setting, plot, text features
Stories will include: Watermelon Day, Pumpkin Fiesta, The Day

WRITING: The students write based on books, facts, and opinions.
~fact, opinion, research, edit, revise
PHONICS: The students will decode 2-syllables words, prefix, suffix,
blends, vowel teams, and inconsistent word correspondences.
~vowels, long, short, compound words, silent e, syllables, rhyming
words, alphabetical order, suffix, prefix, vowels, and consonants
MATH: The students will begin the unit on measurement.
~ measurement, length, tool, ruler, yardstick, meter, measuring tape,
inches, feet, centimeters, meters
SCIENCE: The students will learn about the sun, moon, and stars.
~sun, moon, stars, solar system, constellation, rotation, axis, Earth
SOCIAL STUDIES: The students will find out about Colonial
Georgia and historical figures.
~Creek and Cherokee Indians, canoe, colonist, history, John
Oglethorpe, Tomochichi, Mary Musgrove, Sequoyah
January 7 - Report Cards are issued. Please sign a copy and send that copy back.
