Teaching Professional Growth Plan

Date of Internship: January 5, 2015 April 14, 2015
Goal 1: To implement a variety of instructional strategies in a science classroom.
Rationale: Students engage in different types of activities to diversify their learning
styles and collaborate within the classroom.
Evaluation: A wide variety of teaching styles is implemented throughout the unit minimum three different kinds per week, with a hands-on learning project each
unit.
Sub Goal: Integrate technology into the classroom as a learning tool
Rationale: With the rising popularity with technology, it is important to
encourage the students to use technology in an appropriate manner. By
teaching them to use this tool to enhance their learning abilities will help
them succeed in the classroom.
Evaluation: Consistently incorporate the use of personal devices/ I pad
cart/ Computer lab into a science classroom to encourage scientific
discovery over the Internet/ applications. The tools should be used only
for a learning purpose within the classroom, and not as a distraction.
Timeline: Ongoing throughout the semester
Resources:
1. ORS calendar scheduling to ensure technology is readily available for
all students.
2. Educationworld.com to help generate ideas, and to continually keep
up to date with technology in the classroom.
3. Assessments - Consistent assessment to make sure that the
integrated technology is being used as a tool, and not a distraction.
Indicators of Success:
1. Student grade levels reflect understanding of the covering topics.
2. Students are being challenged throughout the semester at a variety of
levels.
3. Technology is being used effectively and appropriately when the
students desire.
4. Technology is consistently incorporated into the classroom.

Goal 2: To become involved with co-curricular activities throughout the semester.


Rationale: Growing professional relationships with students outside of the
classroom will help build a positive learning environment.
Evaluation: Assist in a minimum of two separate co-curricular activities throughout
the semester.
Timeline: January February - Want to establish these relationships early in order
to benefit off of them throughout the semester.
Resources/ Potential Opportunities:
1. Basketball - Refereeing/ Coaching, School events ski trip.
2. Advice from co-workers, and checking outlook schedule.
Indicators of Success:
1. Successfully volunteered in with two separate events before March 1.
2. Students throughout the school begin to recognize who I am, not only
the students who I teach.
3. Classroom management is reflected by a positive teacher student
relationship.
